What's wrong with this country is the notion that being folksy or down-to-earth supercedes experience/intelligence which of course is portrayed as ELITIST by neocons and lolplainfolk

Don't be so negative, you aren't THAT far! You are about as close as they come when it comes to the contiguous 48 states!

I live 25 miles from Foxwoods, which is on the land of the Mashantucket Pequot tribal nation.

I'm some kind of policy expert by today's standards. Of course, there's also a good chance I know Jack Abramoff too.

Off Topic - but considering if McCain were to win the election this would be something that she'd deal with. This quote just gives me the chills.

[QUOTE]"We are on course to implement and enforce the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative which is an important step forward in securing the homeland," said Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff. "Limiting and standardizing the types of documents presented will result in a more secure and efficient border. We will continue to encourage cross-border travel and trade while at the same time decreasing identity theft and fraud."

I just hate the use of that word referring to the U.S., the stigma behind it is far too great in my opinion. Anytime someone in power pushes that word I always think of the nazis.

    *Edit
I rock the AI and PvP's asses in Command and Conquer, am I a fucking God at Global and Off-Planet policies too?

.... What the fuck @ the debunked over and over and over and over and over and over again bullshit links between Iraq and 9/11.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...l?hpid=topnews

I guess it's appropriate that this moron would be replacing Dick Cheney, master of the Iraq-9/11 lie.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26667733
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - The main opposition party Friday called on parliament to meet in a joint session to devise a strategy to deal with cross-border attacks after the latest suspected U.S. missile strike killed 12 people in Pakistan's northwest.

American forces in Afghanistan are stepping up efforts to hit Taliban and al-Qaida militants in what they call safe havens in Pakistan's border regions, despite stiff protests from Islamabad.

With the insurgency in Afghanistan intensifying, President Bush secretly approved more aggressive cross-border operations in July, current and former American officials have told the AP.
It's kind of like invading Pakistan, right?

Yea, it seems like a lot of people like Obama's ideas; such as CHANGE, pulling out of Iraq with a time table, possibly invading Pakistan, and having people with relatively low experience.

Man, that Obama and his ideas that the GOP likes to imitate.

notice how it's not an invasion per se, but acting on intelligence, which is what Obama has been saying. It's like the GOP is trying to beat Obama to being Obama. Of course Bush managed to fuck it up but hey.

I wouldn't say he fucked it up. These kinds of actions are what we should have been doing since 9/11 though.

I also wouldn't say this type of stuff is new, it's just being highlighted because of Pakistan's new government.

Don't think of them as missiles and explosions. Think of them as birth pangs of freedom and democracy.

We have been doing strikes since 02/03 in Pakistan, only now have we picked up the pace, which leads to more civilian deaths and more media reporting. So no, Bush didn't copy Obama. I was just curious where Kuya was going with it.

Of course Bush fucked it up. However, it's not him so much as it is our tactics in general. Tactics we've utilized throughout our various imperialist endeavours.

I mean, we can all sit here and posture that air raids are great for us strategically and efficiency-wise but countless civilians (not just now but throughout history) get caught in the cross-fire. And while we can agree civilians are simply bound to die in the process of the 'greater good', these deaths are especially disgraceful.

Just recently (Aug. 22) we managed to kill 90 civilians (according to UN/Afghan officials/independent witnesses' estimates) in a village in northern Afghanistan (Azizabad). That's just one example.
