Marry their daughters whom we might possibly find on said message boards.
This is a bit on the meh side; remember by posting to others and stating your own opinions and views. They in turn can make up their own minds by grabbing as much information as possible from various sources.
The one thing I've come to realize that whenever I feel that I'm the only one seeing the absurdity in our country, literally I just have to log on and read posts, read the newspapers (not just liberal/conservative) but all as much as a person can. It's about being informed and seeing past the partisan rhetoric from all sides.
When the time comes that something must be done; if it has to be by it's own citizens it'll come, vote, talk to people, discuss your views and concerns with everyone that will listen. We can't exactly spark up a bloody revolution but that's why we have global communications. Get out and rant, rave and be pissed, at least get angry about the situation and what it's done to the middle class...i.e you and me.
my 2gil.
I think one of the best ways is to actually have people physically go to say Annapolis, MD for example, the head base for your local government. You can do it on a Saturday or a Sunday. More people just need to be involved. The news needs to talk about something other than the elections and start talking about how people are fed up with the direction of this country. I guess stop playing video games for a bit and do something. Including myself of course at the top.
Even Gore Vidal wrote about his thoughts on them wanting a Republic.
Take it as you will, obviously you can argue his views etc., but again not an idea that is new or gone previously unmentioned. We should stop going around babbling about how we're the greatest democracy on earth, when we're not even a democracy. We are a sort of militarised republic. The founding fathers hated two things, one was monarchy and the other was democracy, they gave us a constitution that saw to it we will have neither. I don't know how wise they were.

I agree wholeheartedly; I guess I was trying to give ideas that the average lazy joe blow can do and avoid 'exposure' risks. Many don't like being seen as passionate about one thing or another and prefer to keep their opinions and thoughts close to their chest.
Hell I'm one of them; I do try to be physically involved when I can..granted that's less often than I'd like but meh, I can agree I do need to be more active.
Craigslist could be a big help. More yuppies visit that site and yuppies are the ones who will be running this country.
By the way, when does the US embargo itself? Now that it's a communist nation.
Looks like i hit a nerve. It is understandable; didn't we mention something about hypocrisy in this thread before?
Aside from the fact that communism isn't socialism...
It's an exaggeration, people.
Speaking of which, the US also wanted to give Cuba 100,000 for the damage that was caused by the hurricane, that is before it was criticized for the absurdity of it. They also refused to temporarily lift the embargo so Cuba could buy supplies.
aka trolling!
I think it's ridiculously obvious that i'm trolling, but for a reason, because it is ironic that "free market" played a role in the situation that we're currently in, to which the inevitable and rushed solution had to be government taking over a private company. I just wanted to know what our resident conservatives thought of this magnificent situation, that i admittedly tried to dig out with trolling.
Also it doesn't help that the US's reaction to Cuba just made this sour for me.
Well the "Free Market" has as much to do with our current economic situation as socialism does, which is, not very much. Everyone would agree that we have a mixed economy, so why are we only blaming one half of that mix on our current situation. Sure, I'll agree that deregulation caused this catastrophe, and I probably would have argued against that deregulation because you can't simply pick and choose which situations you're going to have capitalism and which you're going to have socialism. Blame this on our retarded government and not on capitalism, thanks.
When you say government, do you mean the Republican party? You know, with that whole tendency to cut taxes and deregulate when it is not convenient with some candid belief that "freeing" the economy is always a good idea. Effectively, and trust that i hate to have to say this because it should be a given, capitalism itself isn't a bad thing, please don't drive me down that road; i'm not Beckwin. What i am criticizing is this silly belief based on half economics half ideology that you ALWAYS need to have small government, something which i am discontent with because not only is it a highly ambiguous term used as a weapon by the GOP, it also implies that we can somehow function with some ridiculously small government limited to the army or roads or something in this day and age. This and Reaganomics simply drives me up the walls.
Please don't confuse small government with anything the Republican party actually does. There has never been a Republican President who actually understood that concept and tried to implement it other than Coolidge, and he was a fucking moron.
Hence political weapon. Would you be so kind to describe to me what you understand by "small government"?
