I don't consider that much of a race-baiting ad. McCain criticizing Obama on his lack of experience in economics is a lulzfest, but I don't consider it race-baiting.

A little context might help: Obama has no substantial ties to Raines. However, Obama does have ties to a former Fannie director (this guy was an adviser to Obama) who was involved in a loan scandal (which led to him stepping down from advising Obama).

This other guy is white.

And c'mon, mccain and distressed old white woman on white backgrounds, Obama and largely unrelated Raines (but black!) both on black backgrounds.

Hell, they even show Obama in proud triumphant smiley-face at the end. Sorry, not sold on this as "omg race card!"

The analysis is pretty straightforward. Raines didn't advise Obama on any economic policy. So why even connect the two and flash multiple shots of the big mean Raines who steals from poor old white ladies?

Is the ad seriously trying to blame the Freddie/Fannie bailout on Obama? That's not even possible. When the content of the ad is empty and dishonest all you have are the images. Hence, watch it without the audio. The subtext is far from subtle.

This isn't a mudslinging ad. It's sole purpose is to insult illegal immigrants and mexicans, and assign that hatred to someone else. Supposedly someone who deserves it.

That's what it looks like to me. Look Correction, you don't need logic or facts, you just need emotional sway over your populous. I think the fabricated connection to evil profiteering predatory lenders is effective in this commercial, race-aside.

John McCain is giving a speech live in Green Bay, WI at the moment. He's yet again mentioned "Robert Reich" "who was known for the fraud and abuse that was tantamount during his tenure at Fannie Mae".. He's stating that Robert Reich has been giving Obama advice on the housing market. Quoted by John McCain and just wow, so off the freaking wall, I either heard him say the wrong names, or he's got his people wrong.

The Keith Olberman show either has the facts correct and McCain has the scandals backwards here. Because while Keith has said on the air that Robert has not advised the Obama campaign he is a supporter.

Edited - Robert Reich is a strong Obama supporter, sources are on crack right now considering Robert Reich was on Larry King discussing the financial crisis with Ben Stein on Wed Night.

Is this campaign going to just stick to lying completely and without any facts now?

I'm wondering if the Keating 5/Savings and loan will ever make an appearance here? I'm sure it'd be interesting to see the poll bounces during McCains speeches trying to weasel his way out of 'being denounced'.

Just saying this for the record and to highlight how much of a liar McCain is - per Wikipedia, Robert Reich was never in charge of FMMA or FMC. He was Secretary of Labor under President Clinton, and he is one heck of an economist.

Perhaps McCain confused Reich's active support of FMLA (the Family & Medical Leave Act) for being in charge of FMMA (Fannie Mae)? Ol' Johnny has had quite a few senior moments lately..
