I sorta agree with what Elvis is saying. In one light you have the war in Iraq based on weapons of mass destruction (and oil) and everyone trying to stop Saddam etc. In another light, you have what's happening in Darfur and everyone not trying to stop what's going on there. Pretty hypocritical. Also, what's the amount of aid given to Israel in terms of total money?

We give way too much money to Isreal.
It's all really fucked up, don't think for a second that either Isreal or the Palestinians should be fully sided with.

    hold the phones guys.
What's said to larry king on american TV for a PR move is much more important than what he says to his own country

Ahmadinejad doing those interviews is nothing but a PR move. Wouldn't you do the same in his position? You say some crazy shit. A country talks about possibly going to war with you. The people are weary of another war, so you go on their tv and look like a perfectly logical person and tear down their credibility.
    Seems pretty smart to me

Here's the thing; no matter what is true, that seems like the sensible move, so we can't infer exactly what is going on based on him doing interviews.

Zionism as it is now in the US is blind hostility to the Palestinians/Arabs despite the many shortcomings of the Israeli state, which is silly. It's funny that Ha'aretz (Israel's equivalency to the NYTimes) is more critical of Israel then the NYTimes. I think ultimately peace in Israel will never be achieved until everyone who lived through WW2/the Nakhba/founding of Israel is dead because the feelings brought up by both of those cause too much emotion that gets in the way of rationality in too many people, on both sides of the dispute. As for Ahmedinejad, its clear he uses Israel merely as a propaganda move to unite his country, much like half the middle east does to distract their own populations. But, I think ultimately hes a lot more pragmatic than we make him out to be; the real nutjobs in Iran are the mullahs.

Wrong again - the House just passed a bill last week that expanded offshore drilling in a somewhat environmentally-responsible manner (i.e. keep the ban in place but modify it), took back drilling rights from companies that refused to drill in the areas they were allocated, and pushed harder for development of renewable energy sources and technology. About the only things that weren't in the bill that should have been are modernization and construction of additional oil refineries and thermonuclear energy plants (yes, I'm in favor of nuclear energy as long as it's done safely and with modern fuel storage techniques). The Dems voted in favor of it on a party-line vote.

Where were the drill-baby-drill Repubs? Bitching on the floor of the House that they don't get to punch holes in ANWR. I watched the floor debate because I was sick that day - THEY WHINED FOR EIGHT FUCKING HOURS. http://www.fourfreedomsblog.com/emoticons/cry.gifhttp://www.fourfreedomsblog.com/emoticons/cry.gifhttp://www.fourfreedomsblog.com/emoticons/cry.gifhttp://www.fourfreedomsblog.com/emoticons/cry.gifhttp://www.fourfreedomsblog.com/emoticons/cry.gifhttp://www.fourfreedomsblog.com/emoticons/cry.gifhttp://www.fourfreedomsblog.com/emoticons/cry.gifhttp://www.fourfreedomsblog.com/emoticons/cry.gif That's ok though, because the Senate Repubs will filibuster the bill and it will go NOWHERE. So in actuality, the Repubs are the ones who let the ban expire.

Anyways Swampy, you have to actually know what you're talking about in the first place before you can claim to be "who was right after all". I suggest you sit the fuck down until you have some real facts to back up your assertions.
Woops, I forgot saying the Dem's would let the offshore drilling ban expire was derogatory, my bad. I should have said, "they're going to let it expire because they have no choice". Wouldn't want to smear them by saying they're going to increase domestic oil supplies.

Now that last paragraph. The Dem's had their rationale for keeping the ban and the Repub's had their rationale getting rid of it, and I said "we'll see who's right after all". May I suggest learning how to read? I'm not saying one or the other is right, just that we'll get the chance to see who is. Maybe you should sit the fuck down.

Obama supporter and chief debate negotiator Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., told MSNBC that "we can handle both," when asked about his reaction to McCain's call to postpone the first debate because of the administration's bailout plan.

I like the suspension of campaigning idea to deal with this, I hope Obama goes with it.

I can think of cynical reasons to think McCain is doing it for his own advantage, and some are likely true, but it's still a good thing.

First Palin gets put up in a tower, now McCain is running from debates while trying to guilt trip Obama for not doing the same, lol.

Very superficial move. As if he's suspending his campaign to save a cat stuck in a tree. I'm sure folksy folk will eat it up alongside the photo-op of Palin with a bunch of foreign dignitaries + Kissenger.

It's a 2 hour debate and theoretically both candidates should have their shit prepared 48 hours beforehand. The sad part is there's no real insight mccain could offer on the financial mess anyway; he's admittedly clueless and his advisers are terrible (one of them, fellow Senator Phil Gramm, bears a chunk of responsibility for the mess anyway).

He gets to skip the debate, and he's forcing Obama's hand, if Obama follows suit it looks like he's being led by McCain; if he declines it looks like he's more concerned about his campaign then the nation

unless obama calls shenanigans on him, which he's too pussy to do.

What? He isn't running from a debate, especially on Foreign Policy, he is asking it to be postponed so THEY can help work on the financial issue that is facing the country.

Is that too much to ask for? I mean, this seems to be alittle more important then some bullshit Q&A at the present time in the country wouldn't you agree? And for Obama to say that he can continue to campaign and debate while at the same time work on the economic issue that is facing the country with his fellow senators(which is his actual job at the present time) is ridiculous.

This is something that would need his full attention, not something to just go vote present for.
