I know this is late as hell and all, but I had to respond to this.

I just turned on CNN to try and see if that headline was on, Larry King had James Carville (bald democrat strategist) and a McCain advisor on and from what I saw...she was kicking his ass in their debating, lol.

This is wayyyy wrong. They both come on and basically Carville bashes the pick a bit then asks "I don't understand this pick, please explain it to me." The McCain advisor then read from her script of talking points they gave her (ya know saying the exact same this every other Republican was saying, to the word), and Carville was cut off before he could respond.

You can't really call it a debate if one person never gets a chance to respond.

They don't really. Evolution is just threatening to Creationism because it's the first time a naturalistic explanation has ever successfully explained something so concrete in the supernatural domain as the diversity of life. It's principle problem isn't that it conflicts with religion (which it really doesn't) but that it acts as more of a catalyst for raising peoples consciousness to a naturalistic world origin. It's the only real reason to attack the facts of evolution. The only real way they conflict is if you take creation stories literal. Science has with out a doubt disproved the idea of a 6-10k year old earth, a great flood, the earth being created in 7 days, and humans did evolve from a common ancestor of the great apes. Chimps and apes are actually our cousins, contrary to popular belief.

Palin wasn't willing to say what she thinks about evolution, but she supports "teaching the controversy", which is a very ignorant position. Evolution was controversial 150 years ago when Darwin published his book. Indeed, there were well educated people in those days who disagreed and tried to disprove it, but all their questioning only refined the theory. The scientific community is now unanimous on the reality of evolution. There is no controversy. So there you have it: the world's smartest people couldn't break it down, and now they've accepted it, so who's left fighting it?
