People in Puerto Rico have started talking about Sarah Palin. The general opinion is that McCain is fucking crazy and that she's a huge fucking moron.

Anyone with a brain in their head HAS GOT TO have questions. Not asking them is ridiculous. When you say "Ok" to a mortgage for instance, there's a least a month between actually saying yes, and signing on the 40 dotted lines. At any point, a person could stop that from happening. Also, when you are at that lawyer's office signing all the damn paperwork, you have several experts there to ask anything.

Sometimes people just throw caution to the wind, or just don't give a shit. Honestly, no documentation home loans, interest only home loans? How can anyone hear that and think that it's a good idea? People got greedy, on the bank side for the cash and commissions that come with signed documents, and the home buyers for getting into contracts for houses they couldn't afford. The fact that these big banks kept throwing money at these sort of programs (in the form of "securities") added to that, and it's amazing it took this long for the shit to hit the fan.
Not everyone is as smart as you, excuse the fuck out of them for that. I'm sure there were people that have never applied for a loan before and they gave the professionals as Beckwin said, the benefit of the doubt (yup what idiots).

Although usually when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. But if you seriously think that these people were greedy for wanting a home then life really must be blissful for you.

Wanting a home is all well and good. It's the American Dream after all, but something can be said for a fool and his money.

Just because you cannot understand the retarded legal language that was made up for the purpose of confusing people that is used in loan documents that does not mean you are retarded or stupid it just means you never specifically studied law or went to college to learn that kind of language. Having just recently gone through the house buying process and reading over loan documents there is a certain level of trust you must place in the professionals helping you because it is very difficult to understand all of the loan documents.

For me this meant trusting that when I asked them questions they gave me truthful answers. Those people that asked no questions and did not check every avenue of the loan did not go through due process to make sure they could afford it and that is not the smartest thing to do. Though I can see how people could quickly become overwhelmed if they do not even know what questions to ask. Fortunately my wifes aunt is a real estate agent and my father has bought and sold many homes in his life so we had a couple people to fall back on for pressing questions.

Both my parents worked 2 jobs so my 2 sister and I could be live with what we had. I admit, I was a little bastard; wanting the newest gadgets and newest toys. We came to America not knowing anything. My parents came off this plane with flip flops. Don't give me that bull shit about being greedy for wanting a home. We didn't have one until I was 8. Saved up for a long time, they were working so hard just to make ends meet. They took a 8.5% fixed rate on a house that was crappy as hell. And to this day, I would live in that place in a heart beat. I can tell the difference between a house and a home. People were buying houses, not homes.

    Interesting video clips.
Forget the splash screens in between the comments, listening to the comments themselves is enough. There was foresight of this coming in 2004. Mr. Frank thought it was crazy talk.

Hey look condescending elitist talk. How unpredictable!

Listen to the comments, not the commentary. Keeping in mind, the guy still in charge today, was told about the problem 4 years ago.

Don't much care about the letter in front of his name, he's an idiot, and needs to go.

For all the people whining about the "irresponsible homeowners"

...how is it they aren't getting "punished" again when they default on their loans, get evicted from their houses, and are forced to scrounge for a new place to live with their credit destroyed?

Should we set up a stockade in the town square for them too? What else do you want to happen to them?

ah, good point. free market punishments for the common man aren't enough; if we're gonna have the government protect big business (as it's done throughout our history) then as yin to that yang, we should have government heap on an extra helping of fuck you for the little guy.
