There are only 4 swing states that the dems need to fight for, Ohio, PA(marginally swing state, mostly leaning blue), FL and MI. Obama will enjoy a largely flawless victory should dems win either Ohio or FL. Lets hope history doesn't repeat itself like it was in 2000.

Obama is going to win, he knows it and the Republicans know it. If they knew they had a chance, they would have a different Candidates up. They have never really cared for McCain, and I guess Palin as well. McCain is taking one for the team as Bob Dole did. They will be grooming someone to go for the presidency in 4 maybe years(unless Obama rocks it) and for sure in 8 years. The republicans didnt want to ruin a Republican with potential this time around. Like I said earlier, when your team is down by 30 points, you dont risk your starters getting hurt, your instead you put in your second string.

History wont repeat itself like in 2000, part of Obama's appeal in the primaries/right after was that he would redraw the electoral college map for democrats and that he intended to campaign in all 50 states (or as many as he viably could given his money) using the grassroots base Howard Dean has cultivated since 2004. He never needed Ohio or Florida to win, he just needs Kerry States + Iowa and any combination of states including Ohio or Florida or not since Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Virginia, Indiana, Montana, NC, WV, Georgia, North Dakota and Missouri have all shown promise for Obama at various points in this race. Also, all the polling be damned his ground game has always been superior to McCain's (its how he beat hillary and its how hell beat McCain). Obama's victory will be a vindication of this Dean strategy of competing everywhere and should shut up the old guard who like Rove just tried to get 51% of the vote.

Once again, don't hold your breath when it comes to Florida. I have no faith in this state what so ever.

I read about that rally yesterday. It's was extremely disturbing in its content, and the fact that she was stoking the crowd's emotions - which drew out anger, shouts calling for Obama's death, and harassment of the media - it appeared that she was inciting a riot. It was ugly.

IS THAT A PALIN??? OH SHI- GET IN THE VAN!

Gimmick Woman needs to go back to Alaska. Palin's views bother me far more than McCain's at this point.

That's why they give them to Palin instead of McCain; part of the role of VPs in presidential campaigns is to say the things that the candidate shouldn't but needs to be said. The McCain campaign decided this needed to be said.

Essentially, they aren't Palin's views, really, they're the McCain campaign's.

You can't guarantee that he's going to win.
There's a lot of factors that will affect it.

Some that won't even have logical reasoning behind it.

Might even be some during it, considering the way McCain's been talking on the stump lately. His crowds are also pretty nasty too - what the fuck with shouting garbage about Obama like "kill him"?

Seriously now.. go ahead and vote against the guy if you disagree with his positions. But actively and openly advocating a death wish in this manner is borderline criminal, and McCain & Palin need to step up and stop that kinda talk at their rallies before they get accused of inciting riots or lynch mobs..

Completely off topic note: I watched the Canadian PM debate yesterday and it was awesome. Five party candidates at one table for a couple hours.. why the hell can't we let that kind of shit happen here in the States?! I was really impressed by Layton and Duceppe (the NDP and Bloc Quebecois leaders respectively). Cathy May held her own pretty well too, being that it was the first time the Greens were at the table. Harper is a pretty well-known Bush clone so I have no respect for him, and Dion (the Liberal leader) kinda bored me.

Yea they should, the McCain campaign seems lost right now. Even the conservative websites I read moods have changed.

The amount of voters for the primaries was amazing. That was the main indicator.

That rally sounded scary, peeps true colors showing.

Also McCain wont attack Obama tonight, like they are now, the debates are about answering the people in the town halls questions. Unless McCain gets some softball questions.

The only thing we can be certain about is that come this election, young people will be voting in droves.

I mean shit, Jay-Z just had 2 free concerts down here in florida, and there were thousands of people lined up to register, and something's telling me that a majority of them are not McCain supporters.

Palin is speaking to crowds of 3,000+ in random cities, while Barack's got rappers registering thousands of new voters (in key battleground states, mind you) literally on his behalf.

It's practically a fact (heavily supported theory atm) that every time the DOW drops, more people slide democrat.

Now add the fact that a Republican was in office when the shit hit the fan and it's amazing this race is even close.

Of course things aren't going to degrade tonight on national television.
He has Palin out there doing the dirty work for him confuzzling the "joe six-pack" voters that don't know any better. It's like he's using "one of their own" to help program them into believing stuff that isn't true, or a few degrees away from the actual truth.

That being said, I just mean there are people out there who won't vote for Obama because he is African-American. Just like there are hard-core Republicans who won't vote Democrat because they have always and will always be Republicans. It works both ways though, but I find that even Democrats have a more open mind when it comes varying issues, that being the case, that if they found their party was mis-representing them, then they would jump ship and vote for the other guy.

It's sad though.. I have a national election next week and I know more about your guys' presidential election than my own.
