Because clearly corruption ONLY occurs in socialism/communism

Why would you like to think that though?
Socialism may have its benefits in a vacuum, but when applied in reality, how could it possibly better than the inherent freedoms we have from capitalism?

What I don't get is why so many people are taking this in absolute terms, you can never really have 100% of either capitalism or socialism. You know what makes america great? the entrepreneurship spirit, very capitalistic. But a lot of people don't realize is that without social safety nets (welfare and such), many successful entrepreneurs wouldn't have taken the risk and ventured out in the first place. If there is no social welfare of some kind, there will be either people dying on the streets, or revolution, or both. blind and absolute denial of socialism speaks volumn about your lack of intellect. How about we pick and choose and have the best of both worlds?

Because there are more important freedoms inherent in socialism. I don't particularly value the freedom to take take take, which is what you can cynically boil capitalism down to, in terms of "freedom".

you mean the freedom to choose where you work?
the freedom to choose where you want to live?
the freedom to choose what kind of car you drive?

Because 10% of people suffer, so should everyone instead of fixing it?

Socialism isn't just giving in the form of taxes, it's giving in the form of your lives.

what says that you have no choice in where to live and what work to do? and a car? seriously?

socialism is about making a huge part of your life more than just 8 hours a day to make someone else rich and privileged and instead making that 8 hours improve you and yours in the community.

Where is the incentive to succeed in a socialist society if a majority of what I do benefits others? In theory, if everyone puts forth equal work and effort we all win. But in a country with 300M people that isn't going to happen. Tons of people leech off the system now, under a more socialist society won't that be even more encouraged?

well the government decided where you should work based on where the need is.
Differences in cars is inefficient so the government says only 3 different kinds of cars should be made.
It's wasteful to live far away also so the government has zoned where you should live depending on where you work.

in a socialist system, there are jobs for everyone. "surplus of labor" doesn't exist; instead you are able to offer occupation incentive via more time off if somehow there was too little work to be done. similarly, you can motivate by allowing people to pursue the type of work they desire through their merit, and by people being able to directly improve their quality of life through their community.

Even bastardized forms of "communism" have achieved extremely low employment rates. Some have of course done that unethically, but when you think about it: would you be satisfied doing nothing with your life? socialism strives to make work a positive experience, since it's the experience that defines a person most.

...you really think it's so monolithic that you'd graduate high school and be assigned a place to live and occupation for the rest of your life, lol.

    c'mon.

Cause you know we all love commuting. My commute isn't terrible, but I hate the fact that I drive an hr and 15 minutes to get to work, and I bet the people heading the opposite way feel the same. What you're suggesting is ridiculous, and it's absurd to think that things would come to that in this country. Social programs are a little bit different than a socialist state.

Seems like you create incentives for people not to work under socialism. And everything you listed, how is that not available under capitalism?
