There is no record the town every charged anyone. Here's what the governor she defeated said though, "In the past we've charged the cost of exams to the victim's insurance company when possible. I just don't want to see any more burden put on the taxpayer."

I don't know why the insurance company or the victim should have to pay for the investigation of a crime scene. That's not how it works in any other crime, and considering the nature of this type of crime it's even more inexcusable.

Nope, but I do disagree with the notion that she advocated charging victims.

No victims were ever billed so how did she sign a budget that enforced the patients being billed? She's also stated she doesn't support victims being billed.

Just because it never came to fruition does not mean that it was not in the budget that she approved.

I've been trying to find a link to the vid, but I saw a video on tv with kids exploited by their parents bashing palin, was pretty weird. started off well with some nearly adult girls advising her not to fuck up what the forerunners of womens lib strove for so she could get where she is now, but then they start spewing lies and bashing the shit out of her about stuff like she believes God supports the massacre of troops in Iraq(fucking dumb to start with plus her son is in Iraq) then they start talking about rape and have this girl say "if I was raped I want to have an abortion" and start talking about alaska has the highest rate of rape (because palin has anything to do with that and it's not like she has cracked down on sex offenders). The parents should have been the ones spewing that garbage not these kids.

I apologize, it was when she was Mayor of Wasilia, not as Governor of Alaska.

Do you have any evidence that this was not excised from the city budget, or that she didn't sign said budget?

Edit: Digging further, it does get pretty obscure. While the budget for the line-item that included rape kits was dramatically reduced for the year in question, it didn't explicitly state that year that it went to rape kits or medical examinations for criminal investigations. This is an anti-Palin-slanting article, but seems to give a pretty clear timeline if anyone is interested in what exactly happened regarding the rape kit budget in 2000, and it does not present itself nearly as badly as it has been insinuated.
