I'm currently chilling in Raleigh NC working on a server...
Across the way there's an early voting place... everyday there has been a line wrapped around the building, kind of incredible actually, never seen anything like this.
With the way this election has been going and continues to go, the GOP is going to have to take a long hard look at themselves and get their shit together. Everything that has been going down for the last month or so has just been laughable at this point.
Some of the things being said now about the GOP reminds me of some of the things being said about the Dems 4 years ago. Granted, there wasn't a Kerry supporter that carved an initial into their own face, but their campaign was still horribly sloppy and (IMO) didn't pick the strongest candidate to represent them. This whole "with us or against us" ideology just isn't working and I hope they get a direct slap in the face with this election to make them realize it.
See that's the other thing - she didn't even break the fuckin' skin while "carving" the letter. It looks like held the dull side of a knife against her face hard enough to make a bruise that looked like a line.
I have experience with this sorta thing (long story.. don't ask)
The lack of intelligence is strong with this one.
Republicans can't see their own reflection in a mirror, be nice
I lol'd. What does she except everyone to believe?Todd told police that while she did not remember how the backward "B" got on her face, she may have done it herself since she was the only one in the car.
This is going to sound really bad at first, but it's not.
The problem here, is that Obama is black. And has a name that's 1 letter away from our "most hated enemy" and about as far from American sounding as possible.
That, combined with the massive amounts of hate built intentionally by the republican machine to give them the freedom to fuck us all, will, in the end, keep the race close no matter what.
So, what will probably happen is not that they'll realize what a massive failure it was, but they'll think it actually worked and just pour it on even stronger in the future.
Cuz, you know, any rich old white man in America would struggle competing for a powerful position with a black guy named Barrack Hussein Obama. At least enough that they'd need to call in a woman. Keeping it close is a huge accomplishment!
McCain isn't getting any real boost from the 527s and PACs this cycle since apparently some of the more prolific donors to them are feeling the pain of this economic crisis pretty harshly and they dont feel like throwing money at a ticket they figure will lose so there won't be a blitz of them. Likewise the RNC is quickly realizing it can't get McCain elected and save all the congressional seats so all the better for Obama.
Obama could be advertising in a different media market in your state, particularly if you live in a democratic leaning area of the state.
edit: The republican machine isn't gonna learn anything because anybody of real intelligence who is not just cynically trying to get power, ala Rove has already left the party. As Christopher Buckley said in the aftermath of his endorsement of Obama, "I didn't leave the Republican party, the Republican party left me." The people who want to change the party for the better, i.e. make it more moderate like David Cameron has done in England do not have a young standard bearer who is charismatic or with the balls to stand up to the neocon/fundie establishment at the moment, thankfully for progressives the fundie nutjob part of the party have already picked their apparent standard bearer for 2012 and even though 65% of the country hates her, these morons are ready to throw Palin up there again.
If Palin does get the nomination in 2012, I really hope that Obama lets Hillary stand in for him in a debate one time, just because she is vicious enough to actually be able to tear Palin apart in front of the entire country and get away with it cause shes a woman.
"Ohio officials are investigation whether government computer systems were illegally accessed to acquire personal information about "Joe the Plumber," The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Public records requested by The Dispatch reveal information on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher's driver's license or his sport-utility vehicle was pulled from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles database.
Information on Wurzelbacher was obtained on Oct. 17 through an account used by the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency in Cleveland, The Dispatch reported records as showing.
Access to such information from BMV computers is restricted to legitimate law enforcement and government business.
The Dispatch reported that information on Wurzelbacher was accessed by accounts assigned to the office of Ohio Attorney General Nancy H. Rogers, the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency and the Toledo Police Department.
It has not been determined who checked on Wurzelbacher, or why, The Dispatch reported.
The investigation could become "criminal in nature," attorney general's office spokeswoman Jennifer Brindisi told The Dispatch."
Methinks someone in Mrs. Rogers office may be in some big trouble soon.
This is relevant why? Seriously so fucking tired of Joe the plumber. he's been exposed as a fraud and the right still parade him around as their champion. there was actually fucking talk of him running for congress. Really Ohio republicans? Are you fucking kidding me?
I'm not sure what the point of the Joe the Plumber thing is.
I mean, it's Bingbong, so I'm sensing that it's probably something trying to blame the liberals for some vast injustice against the man, but this seems like small potatoes. It's not even funny.
If you watch the entire Joe the Plumber clip, a couple things become very clear. First of all there is no way that dude wasn't planted there to ask that question, also Obama answered his question perfectly, so I don't even know what the hell the Mccain camp is trying to say. I wish they'd play the whole Q and A more often, if we are going to continue to talk about him that is.
Just showing the hypocrisy here. Most of you "liberals" piss and moan about free speech, invasion of privacy, etc etc, and here's a case of exactly that. Someone in government using their power illegally to gain information about a person, and all of sudden it's no big deal, small potatoes.
Someone fakes a mugging, oh dear, oh my... call everyone! But a government official uses their power within an office to gain information about a citizen without just cause, and it's right wing conspiracy stuff. Ridiculous.
McCain is desperate for votes. I'm pretty sure his current strategy is trying to find something to derail Obama's popularity train.
It's almost like a 4 year old stomping his feet.
"B..B...But he's a terrorist! Vote for me! MOOOOOOOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Just wanted to chime in on the womens fake attack story.
Shes a Tennessee Volunteer fan. 3-4 seasons make SEC fans go all sorts of loopy. Pictures of her up on drudge in that ugly ass orange hoodie. Suddenly her anger makes all sorts of sense.

I want to discuss government pension plans. How come this is never talked about in the news? We can go Federal, State, and Local Pension plans.
Also, it's interesting to see the progression. I would say 33-36% of the total GDP every year is spent on government.
From just comparing the tax and government spending it's great to see the differences.
Here are some interesting tidbits.
Federal Pension Plan
-- Federal Employees Retirement System - covers approximately 2.44 million full-time civilian employees (as of Dec 2005).
-- $564B was spent in 2005 for pensions plans at the Federal Government Level.
State Pension Plan
-- There are 3.68 million full-time and 1.39 million part-time state-level-government civilian employees as of 2002 [http://www.census.gov/prod/2004pubs/gc023x2.pdf]
-- $22.2B was spent in 2002 for pension plans at the State Government Level.
