That's because of the nature of the job, not because of the place. How many people do you know that like going to the bank for loan interviews? How many people do you know that hang out at the hospital because its a cool place to chill out?

Places where you have to stand in line and fill out paperwork suck, no matter if it's private or public.

If Obama wants to create more government jobs in this manner, I'm not for him.
Pretty sure Obama's not campaigning for more bureaucracy.

I think the public school system needs reform as soon as possible. Many teachers are underpaid, under skilled, and complain about their work environment. They still do it with a smile of course. Why? Because they'll never get fired for underachieving.

I believe, I KNOW that a healthy system works because of creativity in the private work force.
Obama's not campaigning to eliminate the private sector.

More people want to work for company a because that pays well and offers incentive to move up. How do you move up if you're working as a secretary in the department of water works? You don't. You reap the benefits of having a safe, secure job with great benefits like health care and a wonderful pension plan. To me, seems like giving up and going for mediocre.
Again, Obama is not campaigning to introduce socialism.

You want mediocre? Fine bring on more taxes.
Obama's tax plan will result in a tax cut of 95% of working households, and somewhere around 80% of all households overall. So you must not be talking about him.

You seem to be greatly misinformed. I highly recommend taking some time and becoming informed before you vote. Because, of course, an informed electorate is the lynchpin of democracy.

    Edit:
And what Saphirea posted, I also thought was a joke and acting along too. I guess can't along too if that's trolling.
Giving up and going mediocre could also mean having a stable job. I've worked for 4 major companies that laid people off so they could protect their stock price and bottom line. If they dont increase their profits every quarter, then they could lose money. So to save face they relocate people to places like Texas that is a "at will work" state, and then lay them off, or relocate their jobs to China, Mexico, or India. They have even asked some people to go train people over there cause they are "expanding" then once everyone was trained, lay off time. I wish I was making this up, but this is what happend to me personally.

Let's set political preference to the side for a moment. Do you honestly have a better idea on how to set up the DMV? An organization with mostly idiots on both sides of the counters? Noone likes paying bills and dealing with responsibilities. You get a choice to stand next to morons waiting in line at the DMV, or sitting next to other morons on the bus. Pick your poison.

And besides, noone likes going to the DMV, and noone will until they offer a blowjob at the end of the long lines. People would be getting their pictures updated every week, and revenue would be at an all time high! Lines out the doors and into the streets full of happy customers! I can see it now. /eyeroll

Psst, tarring views which don't align with yours as those of a cult following 'the Messiah' is acute evidence of being a pompous dick, yourself.

I like my DMV, and I live in Los Angeles of all places. Appointments for routine tasks like registration/license renewals can be done online and they tell you exactly when to be in the office to get your number called. My last three visits have each taken less than half an hour.

Maybe it's worse in smaller parts of the country but for what it's worth the DMV in LA is top-notch.

It's right up the road from where I live, and I have the flexability to take a lunchbreak whenever I want, so I can always miss the peak times. Waiting in line smarter, not harder I guess? Plus, I'm always paranoid about putting personal information on the internet. Would most likely take me longer to navigate the site as opposed to just waiting in line for 5 minutes.

I don't really have a problem with the DMV, but I know many people who do.

Took me a little over 4 hours of sitting around doing jack shit to get my new license plate when I moved my car from Florida to Kansas.

DMV here in northern Virginia is so hit and miss. Some days it's seriously a walk in, get what I need walk out. Others it's like I'm trying to pull teeth from a pissed off crocodile. I went in to get my state license plate sticker renewal. Took me close to 3 hours just for the sticker that said 09 on it.

I've never had to deal with truly bad BMV (yeah, we have a bureau) experience. Apparently it used to be bad around here, but things got a lot better.

So our BMV is actually an example of how things can work well with a government program.

The DMV isn't a particularly good example of evil big-government Federal bureaucracy, given that it's, well... a state agency. It's as big as it needs to be to handle your state's motor vehicle licensing, and if it's a painful place to go, you have nobody to blame but your state government. I can't speak for your state, but the ones I've been to here in Wisconsin have been entirely decent. Reasonable waiting times, courteous staff, and efficient service.

I'd be interested to see a study done on the correlation between DMV satisfaction scores and the funding for the DMV, and whether democrats or republicans are more likely to increase or decrease funding for the DMV.

I can basically guaranteeyou that republican administrations lower funding, and that leads to poor satisfaction.

    Hmmmm.

P.S. My father works for the department of the interior as the chief of IT for the research center here in town, and he works his ass off. That place runs at maximum efficiency, always has proper IT equipment and support, and the budget for his department runs a surplus every year, so you can take your "government jobs are for lazy people" argument and shove it kthxbai.

    Not in an overall sense.

That's a bit misleading, but you're right, he won't introduce it because he can't introduce something we already have.

He wants to let the Bush tax cuts expire. What do we call it when taxes go up? Or are refundable tax credits considered tax cuts now?

And to you're challenge about Sarah Palin. What about questions like, "What makes you think you can take care of your kids?" And I also believe there was another pretty offensive one about her down syndrome kid.
