So sorry.. that boat's sailed. You should've converted a few months back when the 4x rate was 1.6:1 like I did, 'cause now you'd be watching a nice return come in.

Not as good as the Yen is doing though.. damn it's through the roof! Those JPs are pretty smart with their money.

Actually, it's that they're being paid for failure. Goldman Sachs is planning to reward most of its employees with a $250k bonus. Of course, it's not just the CEOs getting the bonus so it gets around the provision in the bailout law that prevents execs from getting the bonus - if everyone gets it I suppose it's legal, but still scummy.

I guess the bright side is that if they are right the world will be ending soon so we will not have to deal with them too much longer.

The main reason we have McCain/Palin is, because this was a lost cause for the RNC from Day 1. Why ruin a politicians career by going up against Obama or Hillary? They dont care if McCain loses, they only care about doing as much damage as they can to Obama. If the RNC really thought they had a chance at winning the RNC ticket would not be McCain/Palin.

Yup, Palin sure does energize the base, but what does that say about the base?

And Jindal is a remarkable idiot in his own right, that's a real lineup you've got for 2012 lol.

Naw, the evangelicals practically swoon over this guy, if he runs for a national office it'll be the closest thing we've ever had to a christian theocratic candidate.

One person's opinion vs. thousands showing up at rallies? Hmm, I think the thousands of people showing up at rallies are the base, not that person.

What makes Jindal an idiot? He's probably more qualified than Obama for the Prez.

She's done a great job energizing the "conservative" base, but the problem is that that's pretty much the ONLY group she appeals to now, and that's not enough to win an election. "Thousands of people" is laughable when Obama's pulling tens of thousands in comparison. Now, a lot can change in four years, particularly when we know very little about what will happen to both sides during that, but... I don't see Palin even making it past the primaries in 2012. She's a one-hit wonder, regardless of how much you wish otherwise.

That's just the classic "Well, they lost because they weren't conservative enough" defense that Limbaugh pulls out whenever Republicans fail. It fails for him, and it fails for you. If pure conservatism is such an instant-win, why aren't there any serious conservative candidates? It sounds suspiciously like a variation of the "no true Scotsman" logical fallacy. No true conservative would be defeated in elections, if so-called "conservatives" lose, it must be because they weren't "real" conservatives.

Seriously, the right wing has been planting the seeds for the excuses why they lost this election for a while now.

The Obama rally my wife went to on Sunday had 100,000 people attend. It was only supposed to be 30,000. This was in Colorado.

No one has lost yet, so there is no fallacy. And I'm not saying that the candidates aren't true conservatives now, just that in the past they have a serious fuckup that makes people question whether they are or aren't. Also, what you're describing is not the same as me saying a true conservative would have won the primary if there was one.

And I have no idea why there aren't any, I wish I knew. Maybe Jindal in 2012 will be one.

Gonna pull a Biden on this one - I actually like Bobby Jindal. He comes off as likeable, smart, he does have equivelant and more high-profile legislative experience than Obama, plus he's currently Gov of LA. Right now I think he's trying to concentrate more on getting his state rebuilt, and if he does it where Blanco and Bush have failed then he deserves the credit. I really don't think he'd consider running for president unless he has that behind him though - imagine the kind of collateral he'd have once it's done though!

He's got real potential if he lets go of the extremist theocratic stuff and the proven-to-fail Randian/Forbesian economic views that turn voters off, and instead brings back the kind of Republicanism that Teddy Roosevelt and Eisenhower practised. Unfortunately, he won't do that because he's a creationist. And that's fine for him. It's just not going to fly as a candidate for president of this country.

You missed the point of the article, the point was that those thousands are rallying behind a totally unqualified candidate who babbles incoherently when off-script and is astonishingly anti-science.

Jindal is a creationist who wants biblical creationism taught in schools, he perpetuates the myth that the US was founded as an exclusively christian nation. He has one of the lowest ratings on environmental issues from the republicans for environmental protection. He refused to campaign at places where he would be asked unscripted questions, preferring to campaign at churches. His advisor David Barton called the separation of church and state a "myth." Yeah, he's got great degrees and was a Rhodes Scholar, but even if he does know better he's still an idiot for pandering to the religious right instead of campaigning on real issues.

So what? The Republican base is down to about 20% of the "likely voters" at this point. It's doing nothing but a head-nod to the people who are left on a sinking ship who think it's not sinking.

You don't win elections that way.

Jindal is also a proponent of chemical castration.

guy is too insane. both him and palin are fucking regressive and if the GOP is gonna survive they can't be regressive anymore.
