The point made (over and over in this thread for the last 5 pages or so) is that Palin is a politician. A politican in the public spotlight. A politician in the public spotlight that advocates a specific policy.

On a purely superficial level, her daughter being pregnant at 16 is very ironic. Like it's been said, if Sarah Palin were just a mom and not a politician trying to tell other people what she thinks is right for their kids, then it would be different. It's incorrect to put the blame solely on the parents - things aren't that simple. Parents should teach their kids about life and whatnot but they can't be there 24/7. I think people understand that about this situation. It's just different when you're preaching.

I mean that all you can do as a parent is teach what is right and punish what is wrong. At a certain point, it doesn't matter how good of a parent you are. If your daughter gets pregnant at 16, how is it hypocritical to say you think 16 year olds should not be having sex?

It is a real shame. He said a lot of good shit, called out a lot of issues, tried to find a lot of middle ground, and laid out some incredibly monumental plans (that I fully expect to be scrapped, lolpolitics, but are still very cool)

3) no one is attacking her daughter for having sex. I don't think it proves Palin is a bad parent either. it's just an ironic highlight of Palin's awful abstinence-only stance; you HAVE to admit the comedic/tragic irony here.

5) the polls are starting to open up; Obama has hit 50/51 on a couple national polls. Check the RNC protest topic for the posts I've made there. But you want reasons? a mix of racism, ignorance/stupidity, loads of negative press early on (secret muslim, madrassa, terrorist fist-jab, Wright is a racist who hates america, rezko (omg a legal house purchase!!!!!), ayers (omg reformed criminal who happened to serve on a charity with Obama), overplayed Hillary/Obama divisiveness, too much attention on an extremely small number of PUMAs- all of this kind of plays into the stupidity/ignorance thing), and successful GOP smear campaigning- as awful as the Hilton and other flat-out lying ads are to anyone with a brain, they worked in the polls.

6) Obama's speech was rather good. He got into policy and plans, and highlighted some common ground that both sides can identify with. Hillary and Bill did nice jobs too. I thought Kerry delivered a good speech, but part of that is the novelty of Kerry not delivering a terrible speech. A lot of pre-Obama speeches were really heavy on rehashing McCain=Bush, but the ones I mentioned stand out. I missed Michelle's speech but it's supposed to be a good one as well, but I don't imagine you'd give a shit about the Obama family story.

If you don't think this is a close race, you don't understand anything about politics.

To be honest, I don't think it will be, but that's my personal opinion. Experts have been proven wrong over and over this campaign, and you have the pretentious pugnacity to declare you know better. Most polling places only call landlines from previously registered voters, most of Obamas surge in the past was newer voters and young people. I don't think anyone can make an accurate prediction of what is going to happen in this race, and I highly doubt you are any more qualified to be making calls like that.
