This election, more than any other election since probably regan, is all about novelty and media attention. Obama is a god damned rockstar. He doesn't have to have powerful policies, he can have scandals, he could take a piss on the front lawn of the whitehouse and NOONE would care. Obama has completely sucked media attention. If McCain would have chosen Romney, it would be bland, noone would care. We would continue to talk about Obama from now til November. McCain is just trying to get a little light on his campaign. Light that just wasn't there, especially after last night. Here's the best correlation I can draw. Imagine a CEO position opens in a company and you have 2 viable candidates. One is the 75 year old extremely experienced old swag that noone really fucking likes, but everyone knows what they are going to get with him. The other candidate is 28 year old kid with 2 degrees from harvard business school. He's shown signs of being absolutely brilliant, but noone really knows what to expect. We think he'll be a homerun, but there's no real way to tell. The young kid is the buzz around the water cooler and everyone's talking about him. The older guy goes into blitz to try to get a little attention and get people talking about him. Unless this is some bombshell of a scandel, noone really gives 2 shits about mudslinging and the dirt digging people do. It's who can look good in in the public eye. Believe it or not, most voters don't watch this DNC or the RNC. Most democrats couldn't tell you Obama's foreign policy, and most republicans couldn't tell you what state McCain represents. It's just a fact that most of the country and even most of the voters couldn't give a shit about 90% of the campaign. All that matters is the four or five times you are put on a huge stage on national TV....how do you look, how do you talk? How much ground have you shaken?

McCain's just trying to get the female voters that would have voted for Clinton by adding diversity to his campaign.

    Tyche nailed it.

And LOL at those who claim the media is a conservative mouthpiece. You know people truly know nothing when they claim the media is conservative. Outside of FOX News you couldn't be more wrong. Ignorance is bliss though...

I find it ironic that they're gunning for the PUMA vote by nominating a cougar.

yeah, tell that to the millions of Americans who still think he's a secret muslim after the madrassa stories that flooded the media, and the millions who think his church is the black KKK after a couple lines from his preacher flooded the media.

John McCain used to be a political rockstar, but no one believes that he's anything resembling his old pre-2000 self.

Didn't she run a business? So her executive experience is more than just 1.5 years. And at least McCain didn't go against any fundamental aspect of his campaign I guess. I mean Obama is all about change and he picks someone who's been in Washington for 30 years.

Trying? He got it. From what I've read and heard so far, most women are absolutely in love with McCain's choice for VP.

I just don't understand why they think a president or VP needs to have run a business to be qualified for the job. Personally a person running a multimillion dollar corporation would be the LAST person I would pick to run my nation...look at where that got us with the Bush/Cheney ticket

I love it when people used to say no one would vote for Hillary because she's a woman, but now that Mccain's got a female veep he's going to get "boat loads" of female support.

Honestly, I think Mccain only did this to try and steal some of Obama's "historical" thunder.

I always wondered why he never put his own work in the review. Careers can be made off of that. There's nothing wrong with doing that either.

Oh, you mean the millions of "objective" voters who would never vote a nigger into office and use that as justifiction? The only demograph that appealed to was the nonsensical borderline racist votes who would have never voted for him in the 1st place, regardless of that story.

    Palin's resume:

4 year degree in journalism from U of Idaho
    member of the PTA
City councilwoman for the town of Wasilia Alaska
Mayor of the town of Wasilia Alaska (pop. 5,700)
and less than one half of one single term as Governor of Alaska

McCain is gonna get hammered if he brings up inexperience anymore.

I was thinking more in the line of Millions that only Listen to Hannity/Rush/Levin for their only source of "news". And the fact that majority of those still think theres is a tape where Michelle Obama uses a racist remark against White people. Hi2u Michelle Obama Whitey tape

according to FEC filings from donations, in 2004 her official occupation was 'Housewife / homemaker' respectively. (I think this is a positive in many ways)

she worked as a commercial fisherman with her husband, but he ran the business.

she was mayor of wasilia (a town of about 5400) from 1996 to 2002; when she ran and failed to take the lieutenant governorship. she was elected governor in 2006 and started serving in 2007.

so you've got ~6 years of (small town) mayor + 1 year governorship basically, plus like, 18-24 months of an appointed position related to oil (I don't remember the details, ethics maybe?)
