So what you're saying is that laws should not be passed over an entire population that are made for the common good?

They're only for the common good if you believe they are. Someone may not believe they are for the common good. Even if they were for the common good, you're still enforcing you're belief on someone.

Nope, because no one has to do anything in order for you to have those rights.

Edit: Well I guess you could say that, "the founding fathers said you have the right to free speech, thus they enforced that belief on you".

So if i don't believe that women deserve the same rights as men, and you say they should and you have it passed as law and force me to accept it, you are forcing your belief on me? I guess you are, but then are you right or am i wrong for thinking women are inferior to men? Most people would say my belief is wrong, not to mention not fact, is it just for others to force me to accept the idea of women being equal to men? Or is it unjust?

Hmm, I seem to be making this greyer and greyer so I'm going to try and refine it.

Making a law banning gay marriage prevents two people from performing an action, thus Dem's say that's Repub's enforcing their views on people.

Dem's creating social programs to redistribute wealth, forces me, against my will to do something I don't want to do, thus they are enforcing their views on me.

Regardless of forcing an action on someone or preventing an action, either scenario is an example of both parties enforcing a belief on someone.

The law forces itself upon people; that's not the argument. The real meat of the problem is whether the force is justified or not.

Maybe, but that's not what I was arguing at all, I was pointing out that both parties enforce their beliefs on people.

People keep saying "anarchist" like it's a bad thing.

    Wait, that's socialism. And Marx.

You were saying political parties are forcing their principles upon everyone else. Well, of course they will advocate what they represent and legislate in accordance with their ideologies. It's obvious that you have a deep seated dismay against authority or political parties in general. That leads to the possible conclusion that you're an anarchist.

PHOENIX, Arizona (CNN) — Sarah Palin will join John McCain on stage tonight in Phoenix, say aides, but the Alaska governor will not speak.
I guess Palin didn't feel it was right to pour more salt into the wound.
