McCain canceled an interview over the question, "Name one decision Sarah made for the Alaska National Guard." Btw, that man is a bullshit factory (the one in the video that is).
I'm in the active Army and I can tell you and everyone else right now, this guy is completely full of shit. Governor's have absolutely NO FUCKING SAY in equipping the NG, deploying the NG overseas, or even any mission-related specifcs. To try and even insinuate Sarah Palin has made any of these decisions is a fucking insult to the commanders busting their asses for their soldiers. Guys fucking retarded and I hope he was fired for looking an idiotic political Kermit the frog satire.

Just out of interest... who are you and you're buds voting for? Not trying to start anything just want to know what people that are on active duty are thinking as far as the candidates go so far.

How does it feel to enforce a shitty national policy and kill innocent people in the name of Imperialism?

Most of the Marines I still stay in contact with that are active still are voting for McCain. The thoughts of military cut backs especially in the USMC which already receives the smallest budget of the armed services, feel that Obama will cut the budget as well as nix possible pay increases.

then you realize McCain was against the revised GI Bill and Obama was a big proponent of it.

Depends who you talk to really. Soldiers with families are leaning more towards Obama because they're tired of being deployed and separated. I've been deployed twice and I consider myself lucky. Single soldiers though are mostly voting McCain because they want to stay down-range, common joke at least in my company. Hell if I was single I'd want to stay deployed too, easy money and good food lol. Contrary to popular belief, the Army is pretty divided on who to vote for just like anywhere else for the most part. Worthy to note, McCain tried to screw over the G.I. Bill because too many soldiers were like, you know, actually getting out and using it.

I personally was on the fence on who to vote for until McCain picked this idiotic biblical freak Sarah Palin.

    more palin lulz:

    http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmem...ent_troope.php

In the latest sign that Sarah Palin's promised cooperation with the Trooper-Gate investigation is failing to materialize, her lawyer is now demanding that the entire case be taken out of the hands of the independent prosecutor hired by Alaska lawmakers, and given over to a state personnel board -- whose three members were appointed by the governor herself.

Income tax is only one of many taxable revenues. And it may be the only one that Obama doesn't want to significantly increase.
He's gonna have to pay for his increased socialized welfare somehow... maybe he can decimate our military like Clinton did.

are there any older posters here who were alive when nixon was president?
i'd like to hear how the political environment "feels" now compared to how it did then, seeing as how the two (bush and nixon) both have/had abysmal approval ratings.

Oh I quite understand - it's the electoral college that matters and at the moment there's too many states that could swing. The only reason it looks close now is because we're just now getting through the conventions, and because the media is spinning it that way with all the force they can muster. Once we get into the debates this thing will blow wide open.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but bare with me. Are their any sites out there that are like "get to know your candidates" that have as little bias as possible??

    Link.

Edit: Apparently my news was a bit outdated, both Obama and McCain are now appearing on the website as official candidates. It didn't take them very long to break the law, did it?
I saw this story two weeks ago, and I think it's been debunked since both campaigns filed extensions until after both parties had their nominating conventions. Let me see if I can find the story I read..

Edit: nevermind, read the comments to the story on your link. The names don't show up on the Texas SOS website because supposedly they're not finalized (i.e. amended candidate lists to be submitted after the convention). The article does mention a staffer from the Texas SOS office saying that the certs had not come in, but there's no sourcing provided for any of the information on that page except a link to the SOS page. That page didn't have McCain or Obama on it last week, but it does now.

While noone probably is old enough to recall, my entrance thesis for law school was on the Nixon era as a whole. The two are completely incomparable as the 24 hour news cogs are always turning and the internet has completely shaken politics. The way people get their information and the speed at which it arrives, as well as a vastly different media contribute to this. Place Nixon in this election, and it would be much worse, probably 10-fold. Put Bush in the Nixon era, and we'd get around the same response that Nixon got. We also have to take into account the generation of young people that grew up in the 60s.

Just read the liberal description of the candidate, then the conservative description, and combine them into one article. Write "PROs" and "CONs" before each section if you prefer.
