Obama may want to cut taxes for the middle class but what do you think is going to happen when he starts taxing big businesses? They are going to meet their bottom lines either way with job layoffs or increasing the price their product. Don't you think that might overshadow the "good" done by his tax cuts?

I'm still amazed at how many people want more government control in their lives. Why not go out and try to make something happen for yourself instead of waiting for the government to fix it.

Well, if the price of products go up, then that benefits savers, right? And places more control in your hands on where you spend your money.

Which brings us right back to where we are today.

Edit: Not trying to troll just looking for an informed response to this question. I just don't see how any good can come of this policy.

I like this "Big business will do whatever they have to to make a profit, so we should just cut their taxes and make it as easy as possible" logic. Very impressive.

Where did I say I wanted to cut taxes on big business? I'm seriously wondering why taxing them even more is a good thing.

So because big business and CEO's are jackasses Obama's plan doesn't make sense? Yeah GREAT argument there. That type of scare tactic perpetuates the problems we have.

I can do just fine myself making a great living on my own without the government's help. Not all people that support these initiatives are trying to help themselves out with government help. Crazy I know, but some people actually give a damn about people that get the shaft with the way things are.

Doesn't benefit all the workers that will be laid off either through profit saving layoffs or when companies move their operations overseas.

Look at Ireland, they cut corporate taxes, it boosted their economy. They have the one of, if not the highest per capita GDP in europe now.

    I visit all the time.

My response is that I don't care, but going deeper...

My initial trip I cared only about doing what I do the best because it's a critical aspect of actually preventing US deaths. The brevity and length of the trip gave me a pretty good insight to what we are doing, how, and why.

I can't really go into what I do now but it's a stark contrast to what I did before, but much easier to justify philosophically than "lulz i do it 4 to protext dem guise".

I'd like my query answered though.

So what would you do? Big business is there to make money. Not get shafted by a bunch of idiots in Washington who can't even manage Medicare or Social Security properly.

I'm more in agreement with giving these businesses incentives to keep jobs/plants in the US rather than take more of their money and drive them overseas.

Democrats wet dream. It's probably the same as them talking about McCain picking Lieberman to piss off conservatives.

If you want to cherry-pick numbers, why not look at Norway, a European country with even higher GDP per capita than Ireland. Oh wait, that wouldn't work for you, since Norway has substantially higher corporate taxes.

So you'd rather have the government milk them for what they can get until the company pulls out of the US. Makes perfect sense.

During Obama's speech, he said he was going to raise taxes to corporations who move their offices overseas. I don't know what he's going to do for the companies who keep/create more jobs in America, but he did say he was going to create incentives for them to stay.

So where do you propose we get the money to pay off our tremendous debt, and show me how you can actually vote for this proposal.

Yes big business is there to make money, but you know what, layoffs should be a move of last resort, although nowadays it seems to be a more common place practice to ensure profits for the execs when things go to hell.

Take the airline industry for example. Damn near every airline is losing money left and right, raising ticket prices, adding on fees to passengers, and laying people off regularly. However, despite this shit show, Southwest airlines is still continuously making a solid profit and without the aforementioned steps. That is an example of a better business plan put into action for profit.

Yes, I realize things can go to hell, it happens. Saying that closing the tax loopholes that big business have been jumping through will only cause more problems is a major delusion. Until I start hearing news of CEOs and execs of big business across the nation taking major pay cuts to ensure the profitability of their businesses before they layoff everyone else, you won't be seeing a bit of pity out of me. With all the news of these layoffs, you still hear about execs making huge profits, and that is a highly fucked up situation.

Not enough to fix our problems, and would cause its own problems. But let's stick to our real options for president: McCain and Obama. Show me how McCain's plan will get us out of our insane debt.
