Obama has received plenty of press that's either fanned the flames of racism or kindled ideas about his trustworthiness and patriotism among non-racists. But hey it's cool to pretend that all media has a purely liberal agenda rather than there being clear conservative elements and an overwhelming desire for whatever gets them ratings, regardless of their ideological leans.

Except Walter Mondale tried a female as VP in '84. Go look and see how far that got him.

Coincidentally enough, it's the same person that tried to say Obama was playing the race card and had it easy.

Amele: don't forget the journalism degree!

fuck I should be the last person to bash someone with a non-political or economic or business bachelor's from a state university, but then again I'm not a heartbeat away from from leading the free world.

It's the same tactic as people who insist on referring to him as "BHO". They want to invoke xenophobia in a subtle fashion. After all, they don't refer to McCain as JSM, and they never called Clinton WJC or -- more appropriately, lawl -- BJC.

It's a misconception that presidential elections are won and lost by the independent vote. Rather which party can energize their base to actually show up and vote in larger numbers will win -- that's why you generally see negative coattails on interim election years, as the non-incumbent party usually has plenty to be pissed off about, and it's hard for the incumbent party to impress upon its base the urgency of turning out.

In a free-for-all election like this one, the challenge is to energize your voting base without whipping up the opposition. Hence, using stealth tactics like subtly playing on xenophobia and the whisper campaign about him being a muslim or having a forged birth certificate.

I'm sure most of this will fly over the vast majority of reader's heads. And to think people think that just because they have the right to vote, they should vote. That's the real reason America is in the gutter...

I should add that I don't like the move, but I absolutely get why. I don't think that was conveyed previously.

Leaders of America need to have prestigious Ivy League degrees. I think the founding fathers mentioned that.

McCain essentially chose a celebrity to boost his ticket. He's a hypocrite. Palin may be very promising and competent at what she does/has done, but the lack of relevancy to national/international politics highlights the transparency of McCain's choice. If Hillary didn't heal the rift at the convention I'd think McCain's move a bit smarter from a getting elected standpoint, but as it stands it's just sad overall.

“It is a governor’s prerogative, a right, to fill that Cabinet with members whom she or he believes will do best for the people whom we are serving,” Palin told CNBC’s Larry Kudlow in an interview on Aug. 1. “So I look forward to any kind of investigation or questions being asked because I’ve got nothing to hide.”

Palin also reacted to the indictment of Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens by calling it “very dismaying.” She added, “Hopefully though, this won’t be a distraction and get people’s minds off what has to be done in the grand scheme of things.”

As for the prospect of her being vice president, Palin told Kudlow that she could not answer the question of whether she wanted the job “until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day. I’m used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration. We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we’re trying to accomplish up here.”

Nothing wrong with learning on the job as VP. POTUS however, that's different.

I just don't think people will place as much emphasis on a VP candidate's experience vs. a presidential candidates experience. Just my opinion. We'll found out in a few months.

Clinton, Lincoln, etc. Obama is that same kind of extremely talented guy with a good record under his belt for the time he has served.
