I'm in no way a McCain supporter, but I find it absolutely disgusting every time I see someone insinuate that McCain is ashamed of his daughter's race. Seriously, debate his politics all you want, there's plenty of ammo there, but to insinuate that he's using his daughter (or not using her, to be more precise) to play to racism just makes you a terrible person.

Here's my issue: they are playing up Palin's family so much. There is obviously no way he is racist, I mean come on, he ADOPTED her. No, this is just cynicism. They play up Palin being a mother so much but McCain is a father with a kid in the same range as Palin's kids.

Specifically, that's not dissapointment with McCain, but with America. We all know it would play badly and that sucks.

Early response is very positive for Palin's speech. From an unbiased perspective, she did a lot to help herself in the eyes of Americans who do not know her, and very little to hurt herself.

The vice presidential debate will be very interesting this year. Biden certainly has the advantage... but Palin is no Dan Quayle.
