I think going by things the leaders of the country say is a pretty good reason to label them as evil when they are, once again, talking about wanting to "blow israel off the map"

    diplomacy?
LOL I'm sorry but this is the funniest shit ever. Waving a word around doesn't make it magically work.

He's not the one in charge, and Iran is not homogeneous. There are numerous vested interests in varying degrees. And once again, the label of evil has less to do with what he says, and more to do with political motivation from the one labeling.

It's not like we are pulling this "evil" label out of our asses though. It really is a justifiable label, and is really pretty similar to me being inclined to label saddam as evil

Whether it's justification to go to war or not is a separate issue

Obviously peaceful resolutions have always worked for thousands of years and no one has ever gone to war, ever.

Yes because at least one war has happened in the history of mankind, Diplomacy is obviously always a failure.

Bombing someone because of something they might do is flawed thinking. This isn't minority report.

Yes, but seemingly having a blind faith that Obama isn't going to take the country to war no matter what and that Mccain will is just ignorant (obviously referring to Rhinox and not you), and no amount of Wikipedia linking is going to mask it.

Would you mind defining what evil is and what falls under evil? Maybe you can somehow prove to me it's anything but a soundbite.

Serious question, curious where you line up here.
I will defer to men more eloquent than myself, but in short, I feel that the United States has no business abroad, we have no moral obligation to do anything but be a shining example of what right looks like. For many years after the American Revolution, this policy served us well, inciting the similar revolutions and governments of every country to follow.

As Robespierre said..."If the people would not be virtuous, I will cram virtue down their throats." Our policy of democrasizing the world is harmful to us more than is allowing Iran to get nuclear weapons. Supporting Israel and other oppressive governments around the world, as well as supporting our oil interests and collective imperialism hurts us more than North Korea ever could. Our hubris will be our demise.

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
Crisis is the rallying cry of the tyrant.
It is a settled policy of America, that as peace is better than war, war is better than tribute. The United States, while they wish for war with no nation, will buy peace with none.
All men having power ought to be mistrusted.
If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.
    -James Madison

The worst crimes were dared by few, practiced by more, but tolerated by all.
    -Cassidus

"The United States has no moral or legal obligation to secure the blessings of liberty and democracy to any but its own citizens...The United States is not saddled with a responsibility to intervene militarily, to risk the lives of men and women for crimes abroad, even the most terrible. Not in Darfur, Iraq, Iran, or otherwise. The reason is not because we should be callous, but because we should be an un-starry eyed people, who understand that the United States would destroy it's republican freedoms through chronic wars to purge the milky way of any non-democracy.

Further, in most cases the culture abroad is devoid of any DNA that could sustain political freedom and democracy. Remember, Great Britain needed 6 centuries from Magna Carta to responsible government. At present, Afghanistan remains centuries behind a Magna Carta. The United States frolic to transform a jumble of largely illiterate Afghan tribes, earmarked by feudal fighting to a functional democracy is as silly as the scientists on the floating island of Laputa in Gulliver's Travels hoping to extract sunbeams from cucumbers.

Prior to the National Intel report that came out, the media frenzy (and still do this day, but less fervent) was exactly as it was prior to Iraq, yet everyone was still buying it and still is. Right but the media is autonomous...

To those who support Obama: He has made it clear that he would be willing to go to war with Iran to prevent them from getting nukes (he also made it clear that this would be an absolute last necessity). Do you support the idea that keeping nukes out of the hands of Iran is worth going to war over?

Who cares about Israel? Are they Americans? One of the reasons 9/11 occurred was because of our involvement with Israel and Saudi Arabia.

So you think we should just stand by and let Israel be slaughtered by the Arab nations that despise them?

I always thought that every nation getting its hands on nukes would be inevitable, whether that is a good justification for inactivity, i don't think so, but it is food for thought for anyone who had the intent of keeping this up forever.

Should we sacrifice American lives to protect them? And I don't just mean the soldiers who know what they're signing up for; I mean the blowback it has and will continue to cause and the lives that it costs.

If all other avenues have been gone through. Yes but not unilaterally.
