    PALIN BEATS OBAMA

in ratings. I didn't think it was possible to trump the Obama ratings, but holy shit...
I'm not surprised, Democrats and Republicans alike are interested in her and I know I was pretty excited to see her speak.

I was very let down, though. Her speech was filled with half-truths and outright fabrications, and fluff.

Also, fun fact, although I can't find the link to support it: Sarah Palin was supposed to have an intro video like everyone else, but they couldn't play it because Giuliani kept going off-script and spoke for about ten minutes too long.

While there some bad points about Fox news, Megyn Kelly is hot as hell. Also, watching Keith Olberman makes me want to punch kittens. Calling Fox Faux is one thing but you can't say that MSNBC is anywhere close to being "fair" or "balanced".

He sucked ass on ESPN and he's even worse now, I just love how he makes Glenn Beck the worst person in the world, since well Glenn makes the most sense out of anyone on the news.

...Are you comparing Obama and Fox news to an actual war? I mean, Obama going on O'Rly factor is as much a win for him as it is for the network; he does get to get what he wants to say on there.

mm, some hypocrisy in the morning.

and because i'm such a sweety, the other side's retort:

And also, don't forget that the evil Democratic people put Sarah Palin's SSN on the internet...

and also, i realize all of these are from slanted websites, but i wanted to put it out there anyway.
OK, let's assume this is correct...giving this story the benefit of the doubt (aside from the fact that Colmes misrepresents the fact that the baby would have to have been premature, which is patently false). That makes her 23 at the time of conception? Are you telling me that she can't change her religious stance and values in the past 22 years? She had to have her strict religous/conservative stance from the time she came out of the womb? 23 years is a long ass time, hell, I've changed just about every ideological viewpoint imaginable over the past 5 years.

Oh nos! Why is it people think SSNs are private? They're public records.

Look, I was humble enough to praise Obama for pulling unprecedented numbers for a convention....this is a Vice President (not a president) giving a speech and pulling those numbers. I don't think you realize how absolutely incredible that is. How about you just, for once, try to be somewhat objective, and say "yeah, wow, that's incredible..." That was the reaction when I first posted the numbers for Obama, I'd assume the same appreciation for election awareness when someone else does it, even if you don't agree with her. The most important aspect of all elections is getting the country interested and out to the booth. Both parties are really doing something special.

Noone will think any less of your obama dickriding for one objective opinion. You sound like the definition of a hack. Your justification for the diwnplay is poor at best. She pulled those numbers for the same reason obama did. She's interesting and polarizing. It does a lot to help raise political awareness.

Have to agree with Tyche. However, I just feel like the Dem's have a black guy who's truly one of their best candidates, but the Republicans chose a lady just to choose a lady. Especially when there were about 2-3 other women who were way more qualified for the job.

they're raking in the publicity, that's for certain. i watched her and was horrified, but some people thought it was good... i thought obama's speech was great, some thought it was too vague and fluffy. either way tyche is right about that, each party is definitely getting people's attention.

She is intresting and Polarizing for the great TWO Speechs she gave. Give me a fucking break. You are just a big of a hack as I am just masking by giving a few compliments to the Obama campaign. But everything you said since just screams it.

Palin is the biggest publicity stunt in political history, lol. McCain has successfully turned all attention away from himself, for better or for worse (I lean to the latter; Palin is not polling well).

So I'd I disagree with you by, at the same time, being critical and praising both parties, it's simply masking and I'm really a hack. Don't pull me down to your level. I have a bit of a different appreciation for politics than most here. Maybe that's from college (I'm a poly-sci nerd) . I'm not going to be enraged if obama wins. I appreciate the process, the campaigning, the nuances of politics. I generally side with the republicans on most issues, however, even kuya has accused me of being a leftie in disguise. I realize my view on issues won't always be objective, but at the same time, I can recognize and appreciate certain aspects, especially when it comes to the interaction of politicians and citizens.

Tyche is right that she draws crowds for the same reasons as Obama, however, there is an important difference between the two that explains why Palin got so many more viewers. We've been listening to Obama speak for the entire campaign. He has had a much more gradual (compared to Palin, at least) introduction to the national political scene, and we've somewhat adjusted to that. We've known who Palin is for... a week? Maybe less for some of the more ignorant people who don't keep up on the news. She's an unknown, and she was catapaulted into the spotlight over the past week, it's not surprising at all that she attracted more viewers than someone who has been campaigning and speaking pretty often for months.

This is the same reason she has gotten so much *negative* attention over the past week as well. We've had months and years to listen to Obama's shortcomings and various controversies as they unfolded. When you introduce someone that the media's basically clueless about, they'll go digging in earnest, and you might not like what they find, that's just how it works. McCain's accusations of media gender bias are laughable, if he had picked Steve-Bob Jones, fictional male governer of an arbitrary small state with the same background as Palin, there would've been just as much scrutiny and negative coverage.

Incidentally, the same people who spent months deriding Obama's "celebrity" status and ability to draw crowds are now fawning over Palin's likewise talents. It's amazing how the game changes when the shoe's on the other foot. I'm not trying to be partizan here, I just find the sudden change hilarious.

At least we are getting some intelligent back-and-forth here.

I try to have a discussion about the whole Palin/McCain ticket with my mom (Republican). And it's basically a pointless argument.

I brought up all the crap about Palin first to see what kind of reaction I would get. The responses basically broke down to:

-You don't like her because she's a woman (Daughter Pregnant in Correlation with lolAbstinence Only Education)
-You have no idea what happened with the State Trooper and why she's trying to get him fired(Trooper Gate)... and well the news says that isn't true.
-Everyone in the government uses granted monies for projects other than what they were intended (Bridge to Nowhere response)
-I didn't even want to bring up the whole "God's War/Alaskan Pipeline" shit since she's a devout catholic

Then the entire 15 minutes McCain convo basically broke down to.... McCain is old so he's a better choice -_-.

And to sum it up she actually said.... "It doesn't matter b/c I believe Obama is "Anti-American". I asked her if that was because he was Brown. She hung up the phone, that was all I could handle anyways. I think she saw some bullshit emails about him removing the american flag from his plane or some shit?? I remember her sending me all those garbage Anti-Obama emails but I wasn't paying to much attention to the whole race early in the campaign when this crap was flying around... Any place I can find info on this so I can be better armed against this argument next time lol?
