The entire video was full of McCain flip-flop/pandering/borderline dementia. It wasn't just '2 good' moments.

And by "soundbites from his past" :

You mean at least McCain had a bunch of ideas - held previously, on public record via various media - that he later contradicted/completely forgot/lied about? Yea, he beats Obama in spades there.

that daily show video where stewart points out how Bush and McCain basically gave the same speech (nearly verbatim!) was pretty hilarious.

I don't see the point in speculating about debates, we'll just have to wait til they happen. I've seen many debates where the outcome wasn't what was expected. Who are the moderators this year btw? I heard Brokaw was doing one (omg awesome!) But whoever said we need to stop making our expectations of Palin so low is correct. She should be held up to the same standard as the other three.

No shit he does, he's been serving on the Senate how much longer then Obama? All politicians are going to contradict themselves on practically a daily basis, moreso once election season kicks in and they have to grow a new set of morals to appeal to the voter base (see : earlier discussion about the Patriot Act and how suddenly it's an awful horrible thing when both voted to renew it back in 2006).

Except with McCain, as Stewart said, he has literally become an entirely different politician in the past two years. He's changed his opinion on almost every single issue.

We do hold Palin in the same standard as Biden, but we know she will do horribly. There's no way she can't. She was the mayor of a tiny ass town and the governor of a state with more polar bears than people. Biden has 35 years of experience and doesn't put up with shit. She lost.

When the snafus about Obama's preacher came out a few months ago, he was defending him as still being a good man despite the content of his sermons. Yet 11 months prior, when Don Imus made his nappy headed hoes comment, Obama was the first candidate to immediately demand he be fired.

His views on Health care have changed more times then I can count.

Despite his multiple comments to the contrary, he admitted just this last week that the surge into Iraq was a good thing.

Last fall he opposed an amendment to slap sanctions onto the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, which he now claims should be in place.

He has stated in the past that he was in favor of handing out school vouchers to get underprivileged children into private schools if it showed that it would improve their quality of education, yet soon after he had the nomination clinched up, he began stating that it was no longer a good idea.

I could go on but I need to mow the lawn. Point being, Mccain is a hypocrite, Bush is a hypocrite, Palin is a hypocrite, Biden is a hypocrite, Lieberman is a hypocrite, Obama is a hypocrite

    All politicians are hypocrites

This is a very bad election in terms of hypocrisy from the candidates (for that matter most politicians, I'm looking at you Lieberman), and I think it will go down in history in that regard. The government is still feeling ripples/backlash/etc from the the whole War on Terror situation, and since the public is obviously fed up with the situation, candidates are having to make alot of 180s to pander to them.

    1. Imus made racist, demeaning comments. Wright said things critical of his government. hmm. yeah non-issue and a terrible attempt at drawing a parallel on your part.

    2. His views or his plans? Because the idea of getting healthcare to everyone that needs it has been pretty constant. I wouldn't say changing specifics in plan constitutes hypocrisy when the goal is still the same or very similar.

    3. He said the surge was successful. For quite some time, the surge was not successful, and he still holds that we need to get out as quickly as we responsibly can. Would you have preferred he just plugged his ears and kept saying the surge wasn't successful after it finally did achieve some of it's goals?

    4. I'm not aware of the RevGuard sanction stuff. I'll give it to you, since Obama has been trying to take a tougher stance on Iran to prove security chops.

    5. When did he make the private school comments? If it was as a state legislator versus taking a different stance as a senator and presidential candidate, that's kinda understandable: at a state level without a change in federal policy, private vouchers may have been a better option. But as a senator and someone with the potential to launch federal education reforms, vouchers could then not be so viable.

Wright had a fair number of racist remarks among all his rants too, but I realize that's a stretch.

The health care thing I'll be honest, I just googled stuff up.

I'm not really trying to make damning inexcusable points against Obama, because I know that every single one of these can have big holes punched in them (In regards to the IRGC, I think it's safe to say alot of politicians viewpoints changed after Iran started launching off those missiles, so in reality, I'm not holding that against him). If I cared enough, I'm sure I could find similar counterpoints to alot of the arguments about Mccain's hypocrisy, because so much of this stuff is really just a matter of opinion.

The prior stuff I said about the flags being "trashed" from the DNC is as you pointed out, pretty much a huge lump of nothing being spun out of proportion, but it already made its mark on some people, and truth or not, some people will be holding that against the Dems/Obama.

The only retards that would actually hold that against him are the people who're still trying to rationalize not voting for him.

Can you quote the racist remarks? I don't recall any "kill whitey" rhetoric at all. The controversy was over "god damn america" and insinuating basically what Ron Paul did about 9/11 and other attacks, and the tinfoil comment about the US Gov't planting AIDS into the black community (which is out there sure, but considering Tuskeegee and the clandestine drug trafficking by the gov't and that the gov't didn't give two shits about AIDS until celebrities and middle class whites started getting it... I'm willing to cut the guy a little slack).

Look if you're gonna make criticisms, try to back them up a bit more >_> because otherwise you're only proving Obama to be true when he said "if you have no platform to run on, you paint the other guy as someone to run from"

Let me ask you something: what about McCain's policy causes you to support him? Leave Obama out of this.

It was reverse racism, talking about the government bringing down the black man etc etc. When Obama finally split off his ties with Wright he made comments about Wright exploiting racism.

In regards to why I would support Mccain, I prefer his economic/energy plans over Obama's, and tbh, that's really the only thing that I really give a shit about in this election. Incredibly shortsighted and selfish sure, but different people vote for different reasons.
