oh so im a mccain supporter, nice to know.
so being supportive of smart people means supportive of the democratic party, this means you are supportive of moral obligations around the world, similar to Iraq. the patriot act, all the previous voting and support - not to mention initial authorization of iraq, the vietnam war, the iran hostage takedown, embargoes on cuba, the bay of pigs, etc?
realize how dumb that statement is, and yes the same can be done for republicans, so linking or saying those things to me is kind of silly as i hate them too.
You thought I was a liberal?
edit: nvm, read that wrong. No, I'm a pretty staunch republican. At the same time, I'm well educated politically, so I can see things for what they are, so I try to stay somewhat rational and reasonable. Hence, I'm not a huge Palin fan, I'm more of a McCain 5 years ago fan. At the same time I realize why the republicans chose both of them.
I pretty much fall into that as well. My own views are pretty varied, I can respectfully disagree on issues with most people who consider themselves conservative, liberal, or any of the other major factions. The only people I have little to no respect for are neocons and religious extremists regardless of the religion. If McCain hadn't basically pulled a 180 over the past 8 years and hadn't picked Palin as his VP, I would've very seriously considered voting for him, regardless of the Democratic candidate.
No, I thought you had your own ideals that happened to align with Republicans rather than lovin' the R.
And Churchill, I have no idea what you are trying to say. I'm not sure how you can think that Bush or McCain are more complex than Obama or Kerry. Hell, one of Kerry's biggest problems was that he always seemed too complex to many people and wasn't very relatable.
I don't like Palin at all. I understand why they did it but oh man was it a cynical move.
I also liked McCain 5 years ago. He never seemed like a complex thinker to me, but he seemed far more well-intentioned and independent. I didn't agree with him all the time, but I respected him a great deal more than I do now.
Let's all discuss why the Great Wall of China isn't so great.
Either that or being an Independent, yes, because the Republicans are straight up Anti-Intellectual latelyso being supportive of smart people means supportive of the democratic party
No, no, you see, Democrats have screwed up before, which absolves Republicans of all blame for all of their innumerable horrifying scandals and abuses, not to mention being the cause for which most of these things happened. Furthermore, the patriot act, all the previous voting and support - not to mention initial authorization of iraq, the vietnam war, the iran hostage takedown, embargoes on cuba, the bay of pigs, etc?
Its foundation contains god knows how many dead bodies of the people who were forced to build it. D:Let's all discuss why the Great Wall of China isn't so great.
The best part was when a RNC attendee said, when interviewed by TDS, that she supports Palin because it shows that anyone can become President (she basically meant high-ranking official).
Just goes to show you how fucking shallow people can be. But this is no different from people who don't know jack shit about Obama and just regurgitate the 'change' mantra. There's poseurs on both sides and I'd bet most people voting vote based on percieved 'charisma' rather than intelligence/performance. It's easier to judge people on those superficial behaviors.
Just watch debates between academics and politicians (or lawyers: lolAlan Dershowitz).
also let me just say, although I was mocking Pohibaba earlier for supporting him, and although I disagree with and would never vote for him, I have the utmost respect for Ron Paul. Motherfucker votes no on everything and doesn't change his mind for a damn thing. Gotta respect that. He is also my district's representative.
Remember, in the wake of Reagan, liberal is not an ideology, it's a swear word. It is applied gratuitously to people that self-proclaimed conservatives hate. Conservative, on the other hand, just means "the right thing" to a lot of people. It is both conservative to ban books and to make sure no books are banned.
I love Ron Paul as a representative, tbh. I would vote for him in a heartbeat to be in either house of congress; he doesn't shut up and doesn't care about party lines, he cuts through political bullshit when it needs to be cut through (well, more often than most politicians.) I just hate the idea of him being president.
The only difference between McCain eight yeas ago and McCain today is that he's now fully accepted the the party's reactionary and prejudicial Dominionist base, the failure-proven neoconservative military and economic agendas, and the scumbag playbook written by Atwater, Ailes and Rove.
And the only reason he accepted it is because he'd been a victim of it, and now he realizes it's his only chance to win.
Shit I thought you made a mistake.. McCain's never been a liberal on anything, except maybe taking money from Keating.
No one talks about Enron, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, IndyMac, other corporate owned business etc. I am not big on economics, but why are WE allowing the government to bail out these people? And who is paying for them? We are, why? Fuck em.
Why didn't Clinton beef up the national defense during his tenure? Which Bush has been doing now, thus creating a national deficit (yes this is most of where are money is being drained too) yet why don't WE discuss more about Haliburton and Cheney?
Why doesn't anyone talk about the North American Union? How did talks under Bush, the Mexican President, and the Canadian PM happen and yet the news doesn't want us to hear jack shit about it? If you Google "north american union" you hardly won't get anything in the news.google.com search about this. SPP also gives crap answers.
Why is Sarah Palin giving the same speech, over and over, and how can she do that without people not noticing?
There are tons of questions. The media only wants us to see a few answers.
