    Jurassic Park.

I liked the book, I REALLY liked the movie. Just ignore all the movies that came after it.

    does dexter count?

the showtime series 2nd season is more off a spin-off.
both seasons are better than their respective book.

I enjoy reading books and watching movies... While I do compare them, who doesn't? It is just a matter of realizing that they will never be identical.

I am going to say books because I have more books than I do DVDs, Games and CDs.

Other than that this thread is stupid.

2-3 Hours for a decent sized book? Maybe if you're Johnny 5

Books can only describe to you a scene, and leaves it up to your imagination to figure out what everything must look like and feel like. Your mind is required to set the mood and atmosphere based on the feeling you get from the text.

Movies cut that step, and just show you the appropriate mood and setting so you don't have to worry about it. Movies also include pronounciation and sounds, so it eliminates controversy about the correct way to say something or what a certain thing sounded like.

Visual media is a much more powerful form of presentation and can give everyone a uniform impression, as it avoids the confusion that written literature causes when everyone typically has a wide variety of interpretations for the same work.

Some of the most powerful scenes (in both books and movies) are ones where they don't show you everything. The viewer's imagination fills in the details with something even better/worse than the director could have thought of. Hitchcock was good at that.

So I don't think that leaving fewer things up to the audience necessarily makes something better.

And Fight Club is way better as a book. Different ending and no pretentious ego-centric narcissistic performance by Brad Pitt.

I'd be lying if I said I haven't gotten a rise from simply reading about "nude scenes" in books. Like the Bourne books have some pretty crazy rape scenes with some graphic and emotionally charged descriptions.

I don't know about you but Nude Scenes in movies really aren't ever that amazing because they are usually shitty and I'm desensitized to the "omg, lets lean against a wall and undress each other and then have sex from the neck up after the obligatory obscure nude shots".

    google books, 1,580,000,000 results.
    google movies, 1,130,000,000 results.

    Clearly, books > movies.

^^ Can't argue with facts there.

But on a case by case basis. Jaws the movie > Jaws the book. Book doesn't have anywhere near the same atmosphere as the movie because it lacks the music. Love John Williams.

The Last of the Mohicans was a far better movie than book.
