Learn how to fight shit with lag, learn the mechanics of the game (avatars cant cause flail), and dont refrence my linkshell again unless you actually know what youre talking about.

But yeah... WTF was that GM doing. My HNM fighting experience is fairly slim. But yeah... only thing you can usually do is suck it up and put up w/ the lag from having about 100+ ppl in the same area.

Can't Avatars make Fafnir turn though? I know some dipshit RMT back in the day tried that on me when I camped NMs to move them out of my melee range by bringing a huge train of linked mobs and ran them around me. (Ironicly, they got themselves killed on one occasion doing that.) But couldn't an avatar have the same effect by making a mob move/turn?

Trained mobs can make a mob move.

Avatars can't, just like unclaimed flys won't make fafhogg move if they fly through it. If you hit it with anything though, and pull it through Faf, it will move.

On topic though. Since I can ever remember lag was just a part of everyday life with kings when I was on carbuncle. I spent most of my days tanking mobs I couldn't even see. Amazingly enough, lag never wiped anyone, only stupidity. GM calls for crowding are pretty silly. If you still find kings so difficult that lag can be the difference between winning or losing, stick to sky.

Somehow I have a feeling the LSs bitching about lag are the same ones that need 2 alliances to camp...

Edit: Camping NQ Faf to sell abjs/gear is also a very good income for some LSs. We've made a killing off n.head alone.

Interesting development:

We had a linkshell crowding us at Tiamat today so we called a GM (ironically, the same linkshell that has been calling GMs for crowding at Dragon's Aery!).

Through a series of several screenshots, in the words of both [GM]Xophius and SGM]Luminous, it is NOT illegal to crowd! Here are some of the highlights!

You know what S-E? And I HOPE you are reading this. This documentation right here is just more proof that your customer service sucks complete shit. Two GMs tell you one thing and then two OTHER GMs tell you the exact opposite? How full of shit do you have to be to get this wrong? Are there not like staff meetings where you discuss new policies and how to enforce them? You guys should really get your shit together in this department. This is the reason players do not bother calling GMs; because they're inconsistent as fuck.

Also, never ever blame the customer for something like this. Both your GMs tried to tell my linkshell mate that it's HIS fault? That he should reduce lag on HIS END? Come on, that's just dirty and stupid. In this game, when 30 people are standing on top of you, yes, you lag, but the point is, you told those 30 people they can't stand on top of the alliance fighting a mob not seven days ago. What the hell is wrong with you people??

Another funny thing to mention that was not include but was in other screenshots: Luminous eventually asks for the names of every person crowding. Asdrabael responds that he's too busy fighting Tiamat and how would he list 30 people's names in a report. Luminous tells him "well I guess you're not ready to report those players then" and then cuts him off and leaves the conversation.

S-E: Get your act together and come up with some consistent policies that your GMs will enforce and stop letting them come up with their own damn excuses for punishments. Morons.

I'm not siding with the GM team, but if you had to babysit a bunch of crying children in FFXI all day, you might be a bit dismissive as well.

As for the inconsistencies, fuck that shit. Funny how the players attempt to understand the GM policies better than the GMs themselves do.

We must not be reading the same thread. The inconsistency is that in the OP, players are being told by a GM they cannot stand on top of an alliance crowding a mob (two mobs: Fafnir and Aspid), but in the above scenario, a GM is saying it is ok for players to do that, but this time at Tiamat. Regardless of the mob, it seems that crowding is ok half the time and not-ok the other half!

My post was written in a sarcastic tone. It really didn't effect my game experience much at all, if your questions is directed at me. I'm not upset about it (I think the a GM call for "crowding" is pretty dumb if you ask me). I just felt like pointing out the blatant inconsistency in rulings here among three distinct scenarios.

I don't crowd, ever. I encourage my linkshell to move back as well. It's just a dick thing to do. I used to play on a PC that lagged a lot so I know what it feels like to tank a mob you can't even see.

After read all this post i decided myself to register on this forum to add some lines, to share my knowladge and experience with GMs. This is what i learnt talking to a SGM after get a caution in my acount for lol crowding a xp party that actually came to camp after us ... hilarious.

- If u STANDING ON TOP of someone ( not near it ) that is fighting a monster (HNM or xp mob, ot too weak mob, dosent matter ) and u're doing nothing at all ( not fighting ) , can say u just standing in there to annoy the other player => this is a violation of the ToS. ( so this is not really a question of lag, it's a question about where u are )

- When GM gets in there, first of all u're going to be asked to move ( yes even if u're fighting Fafnir, stupid GM tell u to move the mob .... ). IF the other player don't follow u, problem solved. If the player follow u to stand again in top of u => U're just bothering the other player w/o reson => violation of the ToS => GM can put a " Caution " in ur account. When u have 3 Cautions ( 3 if i can remember good) u get a Warning.

- Aswell, once a GM give u an order , no matter what is it, if u don't obey, can also be reson to recieve a Caution.

- So in a DA case. If u're standing arround ppl who fights, or arround Fafnir itself, happens nothing. But if u're not fighting and u're standing, again, ON THE TOP of ppl who are fighting, GM can ask u to move. So basicly, u can't stand on feet since it's where ppl are dealing with his battle.

- There's huggable Diference about " I'm fighting Fafnir and i can't even see if i'm resting or not because i have 5 ppl in top of me " and this ....

This is not Crowding, or whatever u wanna call it. Screenshots talk by themselves, are taken on same moment from in front and behind me. All our alliance but 2tanks out of wing AoE damage, and noone even close to Tiamat.

So basicly no matter how many GM u call in a situation like this, they can't do nothing.

So next time, if u feel like we're not giving enough space ( ppl can judge looking the screenshots ) I invite u to gentlently ask us to stay further, insteed of GM and public yelling, and we'll make our members stay further .... but we would like to be close enough to get the ToD...

I've hear in this forums lot of stuff against clovers. I'm not here to start personal answers with anyone.

But most of u may know, specially old players, that clovers is a shell that we matter about respect to the other linkshells. Clovers never been a LS that corw others LS, even if they MPKed us several times. And i can say the same about Karasu, so i don't really see the point in keep going in this way on this forum.

These screenshots were cleverly taken after we asked them to move back, and so they did. Either way, I am not pointing fingers at clovers or any other linkshell, only GM inconsistency.
