    HDTVs and Refresh Rate

I'm buying an HDTV tomorrow, and I'm trying to decide between the entry level Sony 40inch LCD model, and more expensive Sony/Samsung models with the 120hz refresh rate. I'll be using the TV primarily for PS3/360, Blu ray and HD sports broadcasts.

The cheap Sony model is very affordable, but Sony doesn't mention what the refresh rate is on it. Other Sony models have 60hz (V series) and 120 (W and above), and have the XMB as well which is nice. Samsung has some 40 inch models that are nice too.

Any advice about the importance of refresh rate on a 40 inch TV for the uses above?

I think 120Hz sets look horrible personally. I don't see how that can be a selling feature (I know what it does in theory, but the execution is brutal).

From what I've heard, they insert a black frame in between every other frame, so it's 60Hz and some black frames added.

Go to the store and try them out. You might like one that someone else doesn't.

    bump, looking for more opinions...

I didn't really know the difference at the store, but then again, they weren't playing video games on them.
