How to deal with cable clutter?

Are there any actual solutions to this aside from twist-tying them all together?

I just moved into a college residence and already I'm getting a little offput by the amount of desk-space I'm losing to them. (my laptop is hiding a fair amount behind the screen)

It'll just get worse once I move my main PC in next week and bring my other three speakers with it.

Home Depot has some clear wire coiling you can buy thats pretty cheap and very effective. You can segment off your wires however you would like, then coil it in the proper size.

It's called Wire Loom, Home Depot has it in 3/8", 1/2" and other sizes for $0.30 to $1.25 a foot.

    Well, that wasn't quite was I meant Moots but you got one of the solutions. >_>;

There's a clear spiral coiling Home Depot sells in the electrical isle thats basically just wrap, not quite the black eye-killing tubing. Although that Wire Loom works quite well when people aren't going to be looking at the wires.

Oh, and he doesn't draw Furries Moots so back off the guy! hehe

Thankfully my desk hides most of the cords, but the zip ties keep them together and away from my puppy =P

Self-cinching velcro wraps. Best thing ever.

If I owned these, I would specifically show them off to friends rather than try to keep them out of sight.

Zip ties & split loom = awesome. If I gave a shit about the massive pile of wires on my home box that's what I'd use, anyway.

Just picked me up some (two weeks later <.< ), wish they had a larger size though, 1/2 was a little tight for the amount of cables I wanted to cram into them.

    Oh really....

Thought we already had this discussion in PMs, but anyways, I'll let the new desk-shot say.

I'm going to use some zip-ties later on to collect the others together once I determine what's in my way, and perhaps purchase a shorter RJ45 cable for the damn IP phone as it's looping around my router currently. Not too much an improvement so far, but it's getting there.....least I got all the misc crap off the desk.

Ah, I thought that was that Cisco IP phone. Why do you even need one of those? We have them in my store for pages and such.

College residence handles its internet connectivity via them.
(they also like using them to automate a pre-recorded message at you when you ignore the essentially impossible-to-ignore fire alarm)

Alrighty, done with organizing this damn room, back to working on that fox doodle....
