I'm probably biased, but I think if Paul had to choose between the two, he'd be more likely to support Obama (based on policy, not Paul's half-hearted support for the Republican party).

Ron Paul has endorsed every Libertarian candidate since he ran for them in '88. He hasn't endorsed Barr yet, but from what I hear they aren't very good friends, so it kinda makes sense. He has given subtle hints that he's a fan of Chuck Baldwin, but hasn't endorsed him at all in any official capacity.

tax code simplification

cutting taxes for more people

closer evaluation of federal programs/spending

government transparency/ethics reforms

a campaign funded entirely by private individuals

Not saying he's a huge fan, but even conservative libertarians aren't fans of the GOP bullshit we've dealt with over the last 8 years. It's not like McCain is gonna reduce government, or cut taxes for anyone except the super wealthy and corporations, or curb imperialist foreign policy, or do less deficit spending than Obama, so if a libertarian had to choose one, it'd kind of make sense to pick the guy who will at least do a couple things you'd like to see rather than none and continue making a mockery of conservatism and the GOP.

parking in downtown st. paul sucks. street parking is very limited and all the parking ramps (i think there is 4, maybe 5) have their parking spots cramped, like compact size. Also, with the various construction projects going on, most of the parking lots are being bull dozed to make way for new buildings. You have to be pretty lucky to find a spot down there or else you park just outside of downtown & walk/bus down there.

Paul has already stated his support for Obama's foreign policies, if a bit shortsighted (I think were his words) as well as a few others, but obviously disagrees with the governments role in social and civic functions.

In fact, if Hillary had won the nomination and Paul had somehow won as well, there was some talk he'd have wanted Obama as his VP.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – At least three people have been arrested and pepper spray deployed as about 2,000 people rallied in the Poor People’s march in St. Paul, blocks from the Republican National Convention.

Police arrested at least three people during a protest near the site of the Republican National Convention, just one day after nearly 300 people were arrested during violent protests.

Hundreds of officers shadowed the rally and march by a group demonstrating against poverty and homelessness Tuesday.

Officers handcuffed a woman in a black bicycle helmet, and in a separate incident, handcuffed a man and a woman after a brief skirmish.

About 50 people watching the arrests chanted, "Let them go, let them go!"

The heavy police presence included officers on horseback and others in riot gear.

The arrests followed a long rally by the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign.

There is no doubt parts of St. Paul are fortified, from the fencing around the core of downtown to the barriers built up around the police department, jail and law enforcement center.

And there are police officers - plenty of them - everywhere. Even the National Guard is here.

But how much is too much? It depends on who you ask.

"I'm sad to say the worst conduct I've seen by law enforcement officials has been in my home state," says Cheri Honkala with the Poor Person's Economic Human Rights Campaign.

"There were groups yesterday who intended to stop the convention and they failed," says St. Paul Police Chief John Harrington.

We saw what happens when police and certain protestors clash. The conflict played itself out on day one of the Republican National Convention. Cops came face to face with self-proclaimed anarchists.

Nearly 300 people were arrested Monday. Most were cited and released for misdemeanor unlawful assembly or disorderly conduct. Those held on gross misdemeanors like damage to property will likely be charged Wednesday according to the city attorney's office.

130 people were booked for felonies like riot, assault, serious vandalism. Today this man Vernon Rodriguez was the first to be charged criminally - with obstruction.

"We are going to interview people, look at tape to make very definitive determinations about what the basis for each charge will be," says Chief Harrington.

It's all part of a well-organized law enforcement effort authorities say. And according to police, what they've done has worked.

"They did a great job in the face of a lot of challenges. They reacted appropriately and very respectfully," says Harrington.

You'll hear something very different from protest leaders. They say many of their friends were among those arrested, even suggesting police officers themselves started the confrontations.

"The actions taken yesterday prove that the tactics of intimidation, harassment?will not stop committed people from taking to the streets for what they believe in," says Rose DaBarr with the RNC Welcoming Committee.
