THat doesn't surprise me at all, as a lot of people voted for Bush because they didn't want change in the middle of the war, regardless of policies. I'd like to see the same data for the 2000 election. Anyway, I have to go to bed, and beings I'm about the only one around who'll argue with you guys, it will be boring the rest of the night. g'night.

    night!

    PS:

That article goes into the analysis of the report in more detail. It focuses on uninformedness of the Bush voter.

And another - during 2004 - on the disparity between Bush and Kerry voters in relation to the accurate knowledge of US/World issues:

well, I'll admit that my opinion that conservatives are better informed is somewhat bias, since it could be just by sheer coincidence that all the democrats I met babbled incoherently. But generally I make that conclusion because democrats seem to base their ideology almost arbitrarily, sometimes its a good policy/issue, sometimes not, but almost always by accident. Just look at the Obama constituency, or both clintons. Don't get me wrong, personally I think both sides use completely stupid.

To add, McCain supporters are not better, might be a lot worse, but I don't consider him a republican or a conservative. Since he's a neocon.

But lets look at issues instead, say like Health Care.

Sure, universal health care sounds nice. Why can't we have it? typical democrat will answer because of political whoring to corporations, true or not, that answer means nothing. We've been having a health crisis for half a century now, the reason it's an issue now is because major industries are buckling under the heavy costs (Ford for example,) So this is why it's ok to talk about it now for politicians. Democrats miss/ingore this vital point.

A conservative, on the other hand, will typically answer because socialism doesn't work, and will probably cite examples of how it will stifle innovation and create huge inefficient bureaucracy that will suck money like air.

I mean, compared, it's a much better argument. (my personal views are way different but irrelevant, right?)

    Iraq War:

What's the typical democratic soundbite? No blood for oil. No more troops dying. Illegal war? But ask majority of them why it's illegal, and they'll stare at you blankly. This is nice and all, but it completely misses the deeper causality of why these things come about. Aside from kucinich, nobody even tried to address anything related. It's like, we are not winning, so it's not ok to be there. Had we been winning, unnoticeable losses, might have been a different story?

neocons, although completely morally bankrupt, side with the imperial expansions of America. Which inherently doesn't need reason or sense.

While conservatives, at least true ones, demand for pacifistic foreign policy, like non-intervention, etc. I'm not just talking about lolpaul.

What I'm saying is, if democratic and republican politicians are for some "good issues", it's by accident. Washington is well aware of this, and these issues are not ideology, but stepping stones to the white house.

In the video above the man in the pink shirt was just someone in the wrong place at the wrong time. in the full footage that was shown on the newscast he was looking around for someone and a cop on a horse grabbed him, then a swarm of riot police rushed the man. It is still not known why the woman in green was taken under arrest, but if you look carefully you can see her crying her eyes out.

That's possibly the most insulting and short-sighted statement I've ever read. How'd you like it if someone told you that your libertarian beliefs are nothing but a juvenile fad?

    Yeah, I thought so.

This was in Denver at the DNC.. Thankfully, there was no permanent injury and this dipshit cop is getting his ass sued. I'm not into the whole Code Pink thing, but this kind of shit is unnecessary.

But it's true for the most part. I wouldn't call it a fad though, loud young people yelling about things they don't fully understand is going to be around for a long time. And I have hard time believing you haven't read anything more insulting on BG.

First, they sure as hell know what they're doing - they're standing up for their constitutional rights. Second, the members of RATM are citizens of this country and have every right to protest, encourage a protest, and join in with it. Third, calling people dumb or commie who are not only standing up for their rights, but yours as well, is pretty fucking hypocritical.

Standing up for "my" rights? Please explain that one to me, rioting and breaking into buildings is very very far from standing up for my rights. Neither is them beating on previous members of congress and spraying bleach on a congressman's wife.

No that's called being a big giant 20 pound extreme douchebags.

Protesting is one thing, doing what these jackasses did is completely different, and in my opinion people who do dumb shit like this deserve to get beaten down with firehoses and pepper spray.

Those people are fucking idiots, they sure as hell aren't fighting for anyone's rights. They're just retarded anarchists who look for any reason to stand up to "teh man."
