Possibly meaning importer helpers or 100 crafters? I don't know if there were actual lists back then for this but I do know there were recommended lv100 crafters back before NAs had high lvl crafts. I commissioned a number of very humble crafters back then.

Old, old Ramuh server endgame scene had some infamous JPs (serious 'haijin'). They'd show up to all camps at all times just to keep the NMs/drops out of NA hands. It was bittersweet watching them get KO'd and then never camping again after rage timers were implemented. (insert comment on how NA GMs were dumb as stumps and "didn't have power over JPs" while JP GMs seemed to have all the power and were all too happy to jail/ban NAs back then... well that's almost how it is still!)

#4 helped color their view of JPs along with "JP only" and general ignorance on both sides. The language barrier is ruthless on some people for some reason... but it's been a long time since I've considered a JP to be 'haijin' now. Many NAs have at least part of that title though.

Bananas... oddly they were part of my regular school-furnished food as banana pudding with banana slices inside and topped with vanilla cookies. It was a wonderful 'grade-D yet edible' treat as part of our 'grade-D yet edible' school lunches! Luckily my family's income back then fit in the bracket where my lunch was always free so I never cared too much on what they gave me >_>. I think eventually in high school they added whole banana slices as a staple to some meals like mashed potatoes w/gravy was on steak/chicken finger days (trust me, after eating the wonderful 'grade-D yet edible' foods every day since 1st grade you actually looked forward to steak/chicken finger days...).
I think maybe something that's similar is the "mystery meat." You never knew what it was! ...or rather you didn't want to know what it was. It might have been alive earlier that morning~

Yes, a few times. I generally dislike being a replacement member to a party, and usually don't do it for that reason -- unless its a pt with a friend/lsmate.

I don't go out of my way to invite JP players, but I will invite one to pt if they're the right job/level... I don't place emphasis on them over NA, or other way around. There is no specific benefit to being Japanese, at least not at this stage of the game.

Yes. Most recent event I can think of -- I was soloing in Bibiki on BST, with a /seacom that stated {Camp} <pos> {Bird} Vs. {Goblin}. a JP 75 bst came about 2 hours into my partying there, and used rabbits to kill off all my birds (bunnies were all T to me, so too high for me to use.) He wouldn't answer /tell, but the intent was pretty obvious to me.
I think the only thing that is somewhat incomprehensible to me is the 'JP Only' business, but I'm willing to tolerate it.

The reason for auto-translate is to make it understandable, hopefully, to both NA, JP, and EU people. That usually means that everyone is welcome, even if your english isn't the best -- sometimes the events in question are pretty simple, so they don't require much talk about strategy.

Yes, I've met a few new NA players. It is not as publicized here as some other games, so the new players aren't exactly coming in droves.

Nobody likes the RMT, and people who openly admit to buying gil/characters are always ridiculed, same goes for people who use bots to claim mobs. Only third-party tool that's widely used, I think, is the windower, which doesn't really hurt the experience of other players the way buying/selling gil or botting does.

The #1 disrespectful thing JP players do is not answer tells that are in autotranslate. Even if you don't want us, at least dignify us with a response.

I think we wish to target any JP player that knows what they are doing. Explaining most assaults in auto-translate would be difficult. Trying to explain something like "Apkallu Breeding" would be... simply impossible. I would also like to see the wall-o-kana that a Japanese player would have to use to explain this to another.

I think it is slow here, too. Maybe this new update will entice more people to join. As for Japan, I imagine no one else is joining FF as there are already too many JP MMO's as it is.

Yes, plenty of times. I wouldn't hold a grudge against them, but avoid them or warn my friends about that player.

Can't really speak for laidback players, but most NA players want to be as efficient as possible. This means talking isn't important and if someone can't do that, it is not a big deal. A lot of people still have a thing for Japanese players since back when the game launched in America, people think that Japanese players are naturally better and more experienced on average. Except for when they are playing Black Mage...

Not really hurt, but once or twice I have been kicked out of parties to be replaced by a Japanese Player(I was by myself as a NA player). I find the racism rude, and surprised it still existed so strongly for so many people even after several years together.

Most of the time yes. Assault can be really confusing though, NA players are also upset about how weak the Auto-Translator is.

Yes, in small groups and probably not at the same time. Most probably don't pass level 20 because no one is there to guide them.

Nerds or geeks, it's not something that I care to bother people about. Sometimes people with Relic weapons will argue with people with Maat's Caps over who wasted the most time.

I'm opposed to anything that interferes with the integrity of the game. Tools like windower which let you "see" the game better doesn't bother me, but RMT and botting both are big problems to me. I tend to avoid friends who admit to it and sometimes make jokes about them. Once a fish botter said "Yes! I hit level 100" and someone in the LS said "Too bad you weren't there to see it." Everyone laughed and the guy got upset and left the LS. We still laugh about it.

Bananas would be considered apart of lunch here. Fruit is rarely dessert alone, but commonly for lunch. Maybe if you had some cream on top of it.

It is very easy to hold grudges against people in this game. There are a lot of stupid, inconsiderate people who play, regardless of what country they live in. I would say yes, people who do things like this are remembered and avoided.

It's not so much that NA players go out of their way to invite Japanese players. NA players have a very fixed idea of what a party setup should be, and will invite anybody who fills that necessary slot. For example, a Japanese RDM will be invited over an NA SMN for party healing, simply because many NA have the impression that only RDM can be a good healer, or that SMN cannot be a healer. One thing I have noticed is that Japanese players tend to try harder at their jobs. Many American players tend to slack off during parties or HNM events, while the majority of JP players I've partied with have been more focused.

Has there been a time when a Japanese player has hurt or insulted you? Also, what are some actions that are normal for us that you find disagreeable? I’m interested to know and would like to hear your thoughts.

Unlike Japan where most people will know at least a few fragments of English, the majority of NA players do not understand a single word of Japanese. Many NA players become paranoid when they are in parties with Japanese, thinking that they are being made fun of or insulted, but are unable to read what is being said. Personally I agree with most of the Japanese philosophies and find the greed of many NA players and linkshells to be disgusting. Too bad I don't speak a word of Japanese.

Lots of NA players exclusively use Auto-Translate when recruiting for Assault and other activities. Does this mean that you are targeting Japanese players as well? I’m fairly knowledgeable when it comes to Missions and Assault, but I barely know any English, and worry if I should even send a tell.

The philosophy here is "if the shoe fits, wear it". Many NA do not care about the language barrier, and will accept anybody of any language into their party, as long as they are the correct job with the correct equipment. Almost every NA I know is perfectly happy communicating through auto-translate with Japanese players. Auto-translate gets very frustrating for both parties, but it lets us get our points across to each other, and most people agree, that is all that is necessary.
If you are interested in joining one of these /shout parties for missions and assaults, send a tell to the leader and inform them through auto-translate that you do not speak english, but are interested in joining them. Most group leaders will be accommodating and try to communicate with you to the best of their ability. If they don't make the effort to communicate, you probably don't want to be in their party anyway.

Unfortunately there seems to be more people quitting than joining... but people still do join FFXI even now. Many of them are returning players who quit the game before, though.

Is there a similar name you use for NA players who are like that?

We call them Virgins.

Is there opposition against the practice of RMT or the use of third party tools? What do you do if your friend or Linkshell uses them? How do you feel about RMT業者 (gyou sha) or gil farmers?

Almost every NA I have ever (including myself) met is violently opposed to RMT and gil farmers, to the point where they would risk being jailed to try to inconvenience the RMT. I believe that all the standard courtesies such as not MPKing, not stealing mobs, and being civil are void when dealing with RMT.

That being said, I'm sure many of these people have used RMT services in the past, but won't admit to it. If a linkshell member admitted to it, they would probably be shunned from that linkshell.

Everyone likes a Mithra in a subligar. Hume/elvaan/galka, {No, thanks}. NA do seem to like having personal items in their bazaars, such as gifts from friends, for sale for 99,999,999 gil. That's about the closest I can think of.




As a side note, I'd like to tell Japanese people not to let a few idiot NA ruin your opinion of us. There are many, many NA people who lack even basic social graces... and unfortunately, these are very often the people you will deal with most, since they don't know how to restrain themselves. These people are hated even in the NA community - they give all of us a bad name with their disrespect, greed, and bigotry. However, beneath the idiocies of the immature, 13 year old NA player base is a mature, kind, and friendly group of older Americans with a very deep respect for Japanese culture.

Many times I have been invited to join a party just to have it disband when i get there, NA/EU & JP parties are guilty of this and yes, it is very annoying and frustrating (mostly the reason why I solo majority of my jobs to 37+ now) but I don't hold a grudge against the leader of the party or the person that invited me. I only hold grudges against someone who has insulted me but generally will give them a 2nd chance.....typical 3-strikes and out attitude.

Personally I will invite anyone to a party, as long as they know the job or are willing to listen to advice. The biggest drawback with having a JP player in the party is the limited use of the auto-translate, can never say what you want to get across and whenever I try and type something in simple English I feel like i'm talking down to them or that I am treating them like an idiot, which makes me feel uncomfortable and probably the same for the non-english speaking player.

Its probably the way a JP player/party will just end and leave, I can't speak for how it is in NA parties but i'm UK, so I notice the time and put it down to 'its almost midnight in Japan' so usually am expecting the break. JP Only is frustrating especially when they reply in English or have 'NA party no thanks/too weak' in thier /sea comment.

I never /sh for missions, but have helped others. Myself, I enjoy seeing any non-english player attempting to speak English, I see it as a way of helping that person expand thier language skills. Most JP players i've come across that speak 'little' English actually speak it very well and TBH, if any English player laughs at your attempt they probably are an arsehole and not worth helping in the 1st place.

You get racist idiots in life and unfortunatly it spills into the game. The quicker these fools realise the world is full of different religions/cultures/colours the better it will be for everyone.

Again, i can't speak for NA side, but I do notice a few new players from EU countries joining every now and then, mostly because they are finished/bored with WoW, which is huge in Europe compared to FFXI, usually you see them /sh in cities 'which key is it to jump'.

RMT & botters are the scum of the game and should be treated as such and I report them to the STF at any chance I get. If I found anyone using one in the linkshell, the leader would get 2 choices - kick that person now or I drop my pearl. I've said during HNM camping that if I ever thought someone used a bot to claim an HNM, I would warp out, I want to play this game as it was made, not obtain items through dishonesty.

1) I think everyone holds grudges against certain players of their own nationality, but if someone invited me to a party and it disbanded, I probably wouldn't be too upset.

2) I've never heard of that list.

3) I usually invite whoever I feel would best fit the party. Back in 2004, I used to especially like Japan players because they were more informed and disciplined than NA at the time, but now I see them as the same.

4) Sometimes when I party during JP time, the only people looking are JP. Usually a majority of the JP players I ask don't even respond to my tells when I know they are there. This upsets me.

5) I think it's easy for most players to auto-translate when shouting or even talking. I also think it brings more attention to the /shout. Japanese are more than welcome to respond to my shouts.

6) I personally don't hate Japanese people. I think some players may be frustrated because it seems that some Japanese players automatically disregard NA players based on stereotypes.

7) There are a few new subscribers, but not as many as previous years. Many feel the game is somewhat dying.

8.) Players who play 24/7 are called "NLP" or No-Life Player.

9) I believe everyone hates RMT and gilsellers with a passion. Windower and certain tools for it are generally accepted and praised for making the game more convenient, without providing an unfair advantage. As far as botting, it is generally disliked, but I think a lot of endgame LS resort to botting because once one LS uses it, then the only way to compete is to use it, and then soon everyone uses it. If the Special Task Force would focus more on targeting botters, then it would be a good thing.

10) I'm not sure on favorite, but Samurai JSE, Domaru is a joke. Also, many players thinks WHM AF head is called "Penis Cap".

1: I've had many experiences with people who live my own country and still do/say horrible things to me and people that I know. I'm the type to hold grudges most of the time, but depending on the situation I'll just forget it and move on.

3: Most of the Japanese players I invite (who actually accept my invites) are very good players who manage to do their jobs very well and adapt to party situations quickly. Unfortunately, there is of course the language barrier being an issue at times but I can usually manage with simple phrases and the auto-translate.

4: I can't remember a time when a Japanese player personally insulted me, but what I do find insulting are the JP only search comments. I'd rather just be told no thanks instead of feeling like I'm less of a person because I come from an english speaking country.

5: Personally I use the Auto-translate to target anyone of any language. However, there are many english speaking players who just do it out of habit because hitting the TAB key is easier than typing the whole word.


6: One person isn't an entire community though. Just because one person may not like Japanese people doesn't mean the rest of us do too. I actually enjoy learning about Japan and the culture there. I don't hate Japanese people at all, I just question some people's actions at times when directed toward me.


9: As far as I know people from NA and EU both are strongly against RMT. Most people I've met go so far as to MPK RMT etc if possible. The things that they do are ridiculous and I certainly don't approve.

Holding grudges in this game is, for me, an overall detriment to game-play. I think it's a fair assessment to keep track of who has MPKed or stolen NMs, but for things like EXP PT, I rarely (if ever) hold such things against people (unless they do purposely malicious things). I'm not NA, so I usually treat it as a cultural difference with NAs...

I started playing at NA launch, and at that time, a few friends and I kept names of very helpful Japanese players that weren't afraid of dealing with players very new to the game. I don't think I would have kept playing the game if I hadn't received early help with things like Limit Break quests and AF quests from Japanese people that had volunteered to help us...

I'm not NA, but for me, I need to invite anyone I can in order to have an EXP PT during my prime leveling times. Whether they are NA or Japanese or anything else. There are usually very few options available.

There have been occasions where Japanese players have treated me unfairly due to them thinking that I was NA, and I was a bit surprised, but overall, I find Japanese players the easiest to play with, even with the language barrier.

In non-Japanese culture, the use of Auto-Translate in shouts or in /seacom is invariably an invitation to everyone, JP/NA/EU. Normally, when I invite people for Missions or Assaults, and they don't speak the same natural language as me, I expect that they have some idea of the mission or assault, or can communicate with me in order to clarify points (even if that means with Auto-Translate, at times). Summary: Auto-Translate in /shout or /seacom usually designates an open invitation as long as one of the following is true: If the player cannot communicate at all, they know the mission or assault well-enough to be self-sufficient, If they don't know the mission/assault at all, they can communicate well-enough between the designated languages in order to clarify the Battle-Plan.

Speaking from an EU stand-point, there were a host of new players when the game was finally translated into German and French, and I still see some players starting, however, after learning the difficulty and the level distribution of the majority of players (e.g. everyone at 75 in multiple jobs) they normally don't last very long...

There is a general lack of respect for RMT業者, and some players even take it upon themselves to use illegal means to deal with them (MPK or such). Among end-game users, there are two camps: Those who stand defiantly against third party tools (not including windower, of course), and those who accept the excuse that "everyone bots" and adapt the same stance themselves. I think that the number of people that stand against windower is very small...

We sometimes used to have subligar parades in Jeuno some years ago. In my linkshell, when we are bored and waiting for other LS members we sometimes used to play a game of /random whereby the lowest /random number of three people would have to take off equipment. The first to be stripped to a subligar was the loser and had to /sit, and the last standing was the winner...

Multiple. Some memorable instances include a bastard that swiped a mannequin's feet back when I was just starting, to a particular LS having a grudge against me for a while. Most of the time I go "Oh well, the person obviously has issues" and move on... but a few people I refuse to deal with to this day

Fenrir server had a list of helpful people in general on Allakhazam at one point. This included EU, NA, and JP- it was just a list of helpful people in general.

Well, the obvious issue is the language barrier. However it's fun to work with other people- and I still remember when I mt'd into party chat that my RL friend sent me a Hard Gay clip. I received 4 /comforts and one /laugh. (I was the only NA in the party)
I guess, it's one of those things where people are people are people- it doesn't matter where you are from/ what language you speak as long as you can fulfill your role well.

Everyone has an Ext moment on Fenrir. And I've had people turn down invites from me/ not respond until I had a person that spoke native Japanese send the invite.

I find it kind of rude to LFG and NOT respond to an invite request. I understand the whole language comfort zone idea (but what else is a linkshell or ventrillo for?) yet I take the time to respond to a request in Kanji- please extend the same courtesy of responding to the crummy autotrans to me, thank you.

Whooo boy. Yes. My friends and linkshells are extremely anti-RMT. In fact, I almost got GM'd for sic'ing the quest tigers on the Battalia fishbots with a Singaporean friend. Basically, RMT is seen as the cockroach in the kitchen- for every one you squash, there's 50 lurking behind the sink.

Subligars have their fans here in the US. The other set is the Opaline. Most of the crummy cosplay costumes have been Paladin AF or Mithra AF (400lb "Mithra" with pizzaface = DO NOT WANT!)

I have had many bad things happen to me like that. If I am invited to a party and they soon disband, I am able to forgive them. Mistakes happen! However, if it is a more serious problem like someone attempting to lot my BCNM drop, or go AFK as soon as we enter an assault, I will definitely hold a grudge.

Japanese players are mostly considerate and eager to play their jobs to the best of their ability. あたしは日本語の学生だから、I can learn a lot about the language, culture, and playstyles of Japanese players! Communication can be a drawback for most English leaders inviting Japanese players, but they like to include everyone, regardless of their nation.

I have been insulted by Japanese players speaking English! Although I am studying Japanese, they will use my own language to insult me. I wonder where they learn some of these words... I have found 99% of Japanese players to be kind to me, though. One problem I have with Japanese players is that many seem to disband parties without warning. {See you again!}{Time for work!}, and then they log off.

NA players always use Auto-Translate because of the general attitude that anyone is welcome to come along if they need the Assault or mission, as long as they play with skill and intelligence. It seems pointless, because it is very rare for Japanese players to respond to English /shouts, but we still like to extend the invitation to them, just in case.

I would say that most English-speaking players have nothing against Japanese people. In fact, they enjoy their experiences partying with them. There are many ignorant people who play the game, but what can you do? The large majority does not share this negative attitude.

There are a few new NA players joining, but it seems difficult for them to find help with quests, or find parties at low levels. I believe that many new players are discouraged by the difficulty in the beginning of the game, and do not have the patience to continue.

We don't really have a specific term for people like that. ;( They could potentially be described as "elitist" though, depending on their attitude toward other players and the game in general.

There is a lot of opposition against the practice of RMT, but it is generally accepted that there are many who are involved in it. As for third party tools, Windower use is so commonplace that it is not considered a third party tool in a negative sense. I also find that many players are more open about using bots (particularly those used to claim HNMs). It is still something that is frowned upon by a great number of players, though.

Most male players are often embarrassed about wearing revealing subligars, as they are very self-conscious about their appearance. It is my strong belief that more male players should wear subligars with pride! There are a few eccentric players who have intricate outfits revolving around a subligar. For example, there is a Paladin in my sky LS who can often be seen tanking in the Christmas event gear mixed with a subligar! The leader is also a huge fan of wearing them.

I know that Japanese players often stray from trying to use English in parties because they are shy, but it makes us happy when they make an effort, even if the sentence is not perfect. If you have any questions about the English language, most players will be more than happy to help.

I dont see any drawback or real benefit to invite JP people though, one benefit can be that they are more silent and focus more then some random invited teenager etc haha.)

(There have been several occasions where I've been insulted by JP just because I speak english, and for some reason, if I speak english I must be NA, which Im not, and got bad treatment or being treated like Im stupid sadly.)

If it's just and exp/merit PT I don't consider one or another to be more beneficial to the party, I'm only interested in their jobs. PT and meriting are pretty straightforward and even if I couldn't communicate properly with the other members of the party it would still most likely work out. I would still invite Japanese players to do other events too though, like assaults and such. It would be maybe hard to communicate but it usually works out alright.

Of course, this happens a lot. About that way NAs make PT, I hate it, and thats why I never pt with NA anymore. I perfer the Japanese way. I'm EU (french) personally, and it's hard to find PTs at EU times. So when I started the game, I had to pt 10pm-1am to catch the americans that play before dinner. And I've had very very bad experiences. Like this guy that AFKed for 45 minutes cause he had to go to the bank... the PT actually waited for him! Now if I want to pt, I use a PL or do it on week-ends in japanese pts ( it's afternoon my time). I only merit with japanese too ( I speak basic japanese!).

I find it stupid to shout like that way because its certainly mainly aimed a english people, although I assume they will also invite japanese, even if the explaination of strategies will be hard. I think using auto translate is just done so that your text catches the attention, vs people that chat in /shout ( which I hate). Advice to japanese: don't accept to join NA shouts, they are generally very unskilled players... In the english word, we try to avoid pick up groups.

People hate RMT of course. About 3rd pt tools, there is a huge part of NAs that use the windower and its plug-ins. Most commonly used I think are plugins that parse your dmg vs other's, that show the distance of the target, recast of spells/abilities, and allow to marcro more than 6 lines.

I normally dont shout for activities, but when I do I don't mind Japanese people coming along. If I do get a successful party going, I'll make sure that the Japanese person in my party knows what we're doing.

A lot of people say "RMT is bad!" and the same thing with third party tools. But of course there are people that do them. My linkshell doesn't tolerate 3rd party tools if we find out someone is using them, but we need to be 100% sure they are using them.

Personally, I go for what's available. If I see a NA Player, and JP player of the same job seeking, I go first for people I know, even if it's the JP player, then I'll go by rank. If I invite a JP player, I always try to get at least one other in the party so they have someone to talk to.

Yes, I have actually been called a cracker before, and not quite sure where they learned that. I have been insulted just because of making a simple mistake that did nothing big (like accidentally using a Fire Maneuver on Puppetmaster, triggering Arcuballista.) Yes, when I use auto translate, I'm looking for both japanese and english players, as well as german and french players. Why leave one group of players out of an activity, when together we'd just do things faster? Sure, there's a language barrier, but if you have the basic knowledge of a mission/assault, it isn't that hard to do.

(Example: (Dont need to include this elmer if you use this XD) I did Lamia 13 with 2 japanese players yesterday. He simply used V = Digidude {Dispel}. (Referrin to the volunteer, which was not hard to figure out with some knowledge of the assault in question). It was as simple as that.)

It's the same as Japanese players who still play but hate English players. There will ALWAYS be racist people, not just in the game. Personally, I will report a friend or Linkshell member if they use a third party tool to get an upperhand. However, I will not report windower, simply because the add ons on there only benefit in a party situation for the most part, and the official windowed mode is HORRIBLE. I hate the RMT farmers, they raise prices, and make it so real players can't farm for money for items, which are priced higher because of them.

Haha, yes, I know quite a few people who love subligars. However, a lot of male players don't like them for some reason. I personally love dancer artifact armor, especially on my elvaan male =P

In the other questions, there was a comment about most japanese players don't use english cause they are embarrassed. I find it awesome when a japanese player tries to use english, even if it comes out broken, I'll even help them fix it if they want me to, otherwise I normally understand it, and respond. Just like the japanese players who find it nice when NA players use ^^ and such, I love it when japanese players use english, it gives me a warm feeling inside, like FFXI is helping bridge the gap between languages.

1. I'm Icelandic and for all I know, the only Icelander that plays this game, lol. But yes, there are assholes in every country. Just like there are good people in every country. If something happens in an xp party that I don't like, I try to remember the names for future reference. Almost every time it is a name that I never see again. It seems to me that most people that play this game for the long term actually do care a little bit about their reputations and try to leave good impressions. However, I still prefer to party with my LS members, that way there is no stress, we can fool around and have fun, or we can also push for most xp/hr, whatever we feel like at the moment.

2. Never heard of it. But I try to remember the good people, from any country. My first experience with a Japanese person was in October 2003, on Titan Server. Chocomilk took me and my friend to Gusgen and farmed for our skulls for 3 hours. I have a short list of people like that.

3. I don't care where you're from, if you can do your job and come have fun, you're welcome.

4. I once /checked a Japanese person on an airship as a noob and he went ballistic on me. I didn't understand why. He sent very nasty tells and threatened to call a GM on me, and basically harassed me for about 30 minutes. Luckily I don't get offended easy so I just shrugged it off. Apart from that, nothing really.

5. I don't think there's much thought put into those shouts, people just use the Auto-Translate because it's there and it's more easily readable in the shout spam. I personally don't ever join pick-up groups for events, I only gather friends and LS members to help. But they are not universally bad on the NA side, just mostly. I think many people would be flattered to have a Japanese person offer to help a pick-up group even with the language difficulties.

Also many male players avoid using Republic Subligar even though it is the best piece of gear for some jobs for many levels. A few years ago when I was saving up gil to buy a Haubergeon, there was this person who offered to sell it to me for a few hundred thousand gil below the AH price. Unfortunately, he changed the terms of the agreement right when he opened the trade window and demanded that I give him some extra items to cover the remaining few hundred thousand gil. Having saved gil for several months, I was desperate at the time to finally get a Haubergeon, and the person ended up extorting me for 100,000 gil over the AH price.

There have been a few times, yes. The first incident I can recall is when I was walking to Jeuno for my first time. I had walked by two JP players who proceeded to spam /check and /angry at me. Needless to say, I was confused at the time since I had done nothing to provoke those players to lash out at me. I didn't even /check either of them at the time.

Actions that are normal for JP players that I find disagreeable are the "JP only" or "NA |No thanks|" comments. It comes off as racist and rude instead of communicating that you don't want to party with NAs due to the language barrier.

When I use the auto-translate function exclusively in my shouts, it is an open invitation for players of any nationality to send me a tell to join. I'm interested in getting the assault done, and I can oftentimes communicate to a foreign player what I want him/her to do for the assault.

I dislike the very notion of one player representing an entire nationality. I do not hate JP players, nor do I judge any player by his/her nationality alone. If the person is rude, then my opinion of that person encompasses only that person and not everyone of his/her nationality.

I oftentimes see new NA players in FFXI. Every time I level a new job, I party with new players in Valkurm Dunes, Qufim Island and Yuhtunga Jungle. I see this as a very good sign, especially in lieu of cynical players claiming FFXI is dieing and no new players are joining.

There is a great deal of vocal opposition to the practice of RMT and the use of third party tools (windower excluded) within much of the NA community. Unfortunately, vocal opposition does little to dissuade those who want to buy gil.

If there were those in my LS who used third party tools, I would actively discourage their use of it. I don't approve of tools that automate flee/teleport hacking or claiming NMs, but it is not a topic I feel strongly enough about to cause me to hate my LS members if I found them using the tools.

As for RMT, I hate them with a passion. They constantly mess with the economy, they use third party tools that negatively impact the gameplay of legitimate players (mining bots, claim bots, flee/teleport hacking), and are now instilling fear and paranoia within the entire FFXI community due to the constant account hackings. There are very few things in the world that I hate, and RMT are one of them.

A banana is a snack to me. How can you not view it as a treat when it is a prime ingredient in some of the tastiest foods out there, such as banana cream pies!
