I feel that the nature of any game that involves playing with other people means that there will be those that are greedy and ignorant. I've met more than a few in my time playing. I usually don't hold a grudge; I focus more on the good relationships with players I have.

No. When I first started, I knew of some very helpful JP players, but I was never aware of a list.
3
JP players can use their "JP Button", the button that allows them to do anything perfectly, for the better of my party. Unfortunately, I can't understand them when they speak, and I always worry that they're making fun of me. This fear comes from an incident in which I had captured some text in a screenshot, thinking nothing of it, and found out some very mean things were being said about me behind my back.
4
The Japanese players that have insulted me have generally done so on an individual level, and I would not hold other Japanese players accountable for it.
5
If I'm using auto-translate, that means I'm trying to reach the broadest audience possible. If you need a Mission, and I am shouting for it, just send me a "Yes, Please." I'm sure we can work together.
6
The players I know that dislike Japanese fall into two categories. The first are ignorant individuals. The second have been wronged by Japanese players in the past and still hold a grudge. I think this problem would be lessened if the auto-translator was fleshed out more, so that we could communicate with greater ease. I also remind you that while the game started as a Japanese game, Final Fantasy is a strong franchise over here, and many people chose to join FFXI without considering the other players and their nationalities.

In August alone, 4 of my friends joined. The game has a steep learning curve, though, so those that want to play but do not have any friends that do are definitely at a disadvantage.
8
The proper term is "elitist." However, I've no respect for people who think they are better than other players because their characters are better than another's. Remember, all it takes for a pawn to become a rook is to cross the chess board.
9
The only people I know who have ever cared for RMT are younger players who get frustrated with the difficulty of breaking into the game. They usually don't realize the harm that RMT causes. I combat this by taking time out to help out younger players.
Tt is not uncommon for us to see a player who is high level yet who is terrible at his job and insult him by asking "How much did you pay for your character?" I feel this statement sums up how we generally feel about RMT.

My girlfriend loves subligar far more than she should. She was excited when I made her a signed Republic Subligar, and she wears it all the time. I am not a fan of the german bondage gear. Instead, I purchased a full Garish Tunic Set simply for looks.
Bonus statement:
I first started playing this game in July 2004. I started in Bastok, and was so confused! A Japanese player took pity on me when I died on my level 3 RDM. Not only did she raise me, she gave me a small amount of gil and, as best as she could, pointed out various NPCs to me. It was tough, as I did not speak Japanese, but I enjoyed being shown around town. She also replaced my onion sword with a Wax Sword +1 she made for me.
This has had a large impact on my play style. I try to be helpful to all new players, even though many have burned me in the past in their own selfishness. To remind me of this, I still have that Wax Sword +1. I also remind myself that the player behind every character, regardless of what language he or she speaks, is a person just like.
