Just got this off t3 troll otw to Cerby pop. I was thinking.... in a situation where enmity didnt matter (solo perhaps), and you were going for shear dmg reduction... this peice maybe good. Has higher base Def than Kaiser Shield which dictates -% when shield procs to my understanding. At the same time being a smaller shield it would proc more yes? Stupid thought or possible peice for solo dmg reduction?

Smaller also = less damage blocked, likely negating bonus from high DEF.

I actually heard a rumor that the JP version of this says it is "Enmity +2" and not -2 like it says on our version. Anyone able to verify this?

Is there any testing proving what the base reductions are for different size shields(or if there is any at all)? I've heard things like that forever, but never any numbers.

With the new knowledge that this thing actually has Enmity+ instead of -, its really not that "bad" a shield. I don't know about other PLD's but sometimes when I'm tanking easier mobs a Shield Block w/ Phalanx up will reduce my damage below 33 to like 25-30 which effectively reduces any benefit from Ethereal Earring on those mobs (except when they Crit or TP move) so I could see some instances where perhaps you want to bump up the damage you are taking to above 33 damage. With the more frequent block rate, this could reduce damage taken over time on mobs of this difficulty, while maintaining that "1 mp per hit" from Ethereal Earring.

Umm... am I missing something here or is there some reason that -2 being a +2 enmity not change the fact it would be horrid for a PLD?

I'm personally not thinking of using it for endgame, more low man setup-oriented I think, as the higher def and higher proc rate mean I can get SS or Ichi up alot easier.



P.S. This might also be worth getting for new PLDs still trying to cap their Shield skill for some god forsaken reason at 75.

I don't think 300ish shield skill would cap out block rate on koenig shield against something like khim/cerb/tiamat

Yeah I can see that as far as using it for Shield Mastery, as far as skilling up Sipar is still going to be your best bet.

With Aurum sabatons it seems to give me +4 attack instead of 5. I was wondering if anyone with a Data browser knows if any of the other stats on it are wrong?
