Initially thought to be 100% block rate. I have one and I can tell you now it doesn't block 100% of the time. Infact, I notice no difference using it between other small shield types. OtherWiki's Sipar page now shows it to be just, a shield. No special properties.

With Aurum sabatons it seems to give me +4 attack instead of 5. I was wondering if anyone with a Data browser knows if any of the other stats on it are wrong?

bg wiki shows unconfirmed +20% block rate, which is always what I'd heard. Never heard of it being 100%.

I'm fairly sure shield size doesn't effect block rate, only damage reduced.

I never really noticed it much leveling PLD, I even had a Master shield for a while which was junk. And like somebody else already said, I think somebody actually tested it and found it to be a crock of bologna.

I use a Sipar in those rare situations when I need to make sure, without a doubt, that my shield block rate is capped. Otherwise it's Koenig all the way. If I ever happen to get a Simba buckler, I might substitute it in for the Sipar.

And yeah, defense raiting on a shield only adds to the %damage you block on a blocked hit. Something to the tune of DEF / 2. It has nothing to do with blockrate. That is influenced by shield size, shield skill, and mob stats.
