Unfortunately wrong. Still copywrite infringement regardless of how you look at it. Emulating something created by SE, and modifying the client are both illegal.

Pretty much.

And everything else aside from the regular fighting is server side. Screen shots showing WS list or lack thereof and stats with/without Futsuno in this case. I don't know enough to understand how the GK Latents work but it wasn't active while engaged or fighting and definitely wasn't active when I was in Red or white, which means orange is out of the question unless you will never see the STR stat in which case this point is moot anyway and will need to just run around hitting things to see. But this wouldn't be the environment to run those tests, too many unanswered questions right now.

The lack of weapon skills tells me that all of that is handled serverside like everyone had already surmised.


Edit* - Correct no WS or spells, mode changes never happened the mobs just try to pummel you to death.

I hope they let some code savvy people on this board help them with it since it seems to be a small group working on it in their free time judging by their IRC activity, if they took on some more people if even just to script shit it would go a lot faster. Some public attention is just what they needed. It would be even more awesome to fuck around on if everything worked, the server itself already works, you can have more than one person connect and see each other/send tells and shit, just no real substance

While the private server is fun to screw around with, it's still a long way from what we'd like to see it. I've played on the WoW private servers and while all well and all, at the end of the day I personally want to be able to be around all the people I play with daily.

That includes the random shouts and stupidity that's rampant in FFXI but that's probably what makes it fun. I honestly think that while they will be great to use, the private servers just won't have that accomplishemnt feel that we all know will be needed. Hell when a person can solo AV, why not just kill a rabbit and have him give everything in the games loot pool.

If they could achieve the equivalent of what some of the previous posters spoke about on the other private servers that were successful, then I could probably see spending a majority of time on them. Here's hoping the support that they lack will be found soon enough and kick this pig in full gear.
