    Sorry for the bump, but was curious. I'll more than likely be returning to FFXI and I've seen screenshots of the new Harpeia. Has anyone tried, or is it plausible, to use the Harpeai for Garuda? I imagine the lack of arms on the Harpeia causes issues like using anything other than the wyvern pet for DRG. When it'd use breath, the creature in place of the wyvern would kind of implode and weird things would happen.

    I mentioned it on vent the other night and someone said, "If anyone could make it work, it'd be Mooshy." So I thought of this thread, since FFXIDATs is long gone. (Not really a request for it to be made if it's not possible, just wondering if it's been tried. I guess I could wait and find out myself when I finally resub.)

    If memory serves, the model on the Harpies is actually just a complete reskin of either Garuda or Shiva's model (can't remember which, but leaning towards Shiva). I can't imagine it being too difficult to swap one of them for Garuda, if the models and animations line up, but the more I watch an older vid of Celaeno, the more I think it's Shiva's model.

    has anyone tried to mod the Prov Watcher staff to look like each element, and swap them for the elemental staves?

    I have thought about it, but not being able to swap them for Magian Staves makes me too sad to work on it.

    You can swap anything for Avatars, you'll just need to fix the animation calls in hex so it wont be calling the animation stored in the abilities dat file, it will call an animation it already has in its Harpy dat. Wyverns explode but mainly because they have all the emotes and it would take too much effort to fix them all (not to mention there is no animation to swap them with aside from calling no animation at all). Aside from abilities though it should all work fine, it just wont have a pretty summon effect it will just appear with that bubble effect like a jug pet~

    This. Making all of those one model basically killed staff modding altogether.

    Likely unfeasible, but would it be possible to mod a staff to switch color based on spell being cast? Just curious if it's theoretically possible.

    yyyyeah I think that could be possible, though it would take a lot of modding i.e. modding every spell.
    I would think you could embed for example colored sphere effects in the spell dat and label it like "BALL", based on the spell you're embedding it into change the color, then in the cast schedule have a kill "BALL" call and also an activate "BALL" right after it. I would think this would kill the currently active sphere (since they're all labeled BALL) and start the new one from within the spell dat. If its set to repeat continuously it should stay on until the next cast.
    So casting Thunder kill "BALL" which I guess would start default as white, then call the purple sphere "BALL" stored within the spell dat. It repeats continuously.
    Cast Fire, kill "BALL" (purple sphere continuous), call "BALL", red sphere activates.
    Zone, auto recalls default white sphere from within the weapon dat.

    Wasn't there a plugin for Photoshop that allowed you to open and edit dats without using the Model Viewer to export them? I swear there was, I just can't remember what it was.

    I'd like to finish my face edit and do a few recolors on things if I can.

    Also, speaking of my face dat, anyone here able to fix priorities with headgear? It has an issue with headgear where a chunk of the hair disappears and you can see into the head. I have no idea how to fix it (I didn't make it, only edited it to my liking).

    As for the hair you'd have to fix that in VRS messing around with hide properties and stuff. probably better off molding whatever piece is disappearing in metasequoia to not be noticable

    Thanks for the link, although the VRS/Metasequoia is lost on me. I've never done anything of the like. Is it hard to learn or would I screw things up worse trying to? Was hoping I could just send it to someone to fix and have them send it back, lol.

    Bored. Might come back and make a few things for a little bit. Maybe get around to porting those katanas I promised i'd port for like 50 people but never did ^^; sorry sorry
    Even after people made those programs for me to make porting easy! Damn im lazy
    I'll probably go through some of the newer SE dats and one up them cause they seem to enjoy trolling me. Maybe if I just keep improving stuff they'll release improved stuff...?

    lmao I've been loving this comment since like 5 years ago since it comes up every year at some point. Would be sad to see it end! I think I could get it to work, but would require good amounts of animation editing (But 90% of my childhood was spent grinding on NU so it would totally be worth it!)

    Uuuuuuuuuuummmm! lol I could make little bits change color on the armor like.... Runes eh eh? /nudge/nudge I'll need to make a new AF set for Rune Fencer because by god at least ONE tank class should have basic AF being heavy plated armor

    Hmm looks like they've actually finally implemented effect on weapons. Before the effect would be set to repeat forever and then be called and killed, but now they put in some weird new "lop0" schedules (assuming that means loop) and changed it so the old way doesnt work anymore? Interesting

    Well, even if you couldn't do the whole skin, maybe something like DRK's emp armor where it has little red grooves you could instead tweak to glow.

    Oh man, the things I would do to have Destroy Mode armor, especially if you could have the light effects turn on/off with combat engage.
