You don't seem to understand. Every time I've posted that file, I get 'that looks great, but could you port it to [something that would require a ton of work and still end up looking shitty as]?'
It gets old.
ohhhhh ok
Could you port that to a lance? A BLUE lance?
Hey can you port that to some shoulder pads that shoot lazrs?
Ohhhhh, like gun pods! OR the chariot move thats 4400 needles with all the little pod thingys
LAZERS
That sounds ridiculous, though certainly possible. I mean, Tidal Talisman has a perpetual effect on it so why not just use a different one?
lol I wonder if you put the mesh of body armor into a weapon dat then swapped the dat for body armor if the effects would still work for engage/disengage... or I guess since they added a new battle effect system if you could just put engage/disengage effects on armor ;o
Went through and made the blue SMN AF for everything but Taru. I'll have to actually recolor theirs as it's different from the rest.

Attention those who downloaded the Hume F version earlier:
I noticed while doing these that the Hume F one had a dark smudge on the arm... I have fixed that and reuploaded it to my bucket and the dat site. If you downloaded it previously and want the fixed version, please download the new non-smudge version!

:O Love that. The fluffy, winter-esque design reminds me of WHM AF3.

I redid my Ragnarok to look more gold with a touch of green. Not much of a change, but better then that dull bronze look imo.

Messing around recoloring, I'm not sure if I like this.

I could see that working if you did neon yellow and only did the line portions (So you would have stripes of yellow on black).
I agree both in the case of the armor and the sword. Rather thank looking gold, they appear bright yellow and artificial; that may make sense in a game with less realistic details, but within FFXI, it looks uncharacteristically cartoon-like.
If you want to perfect this sort of mod—specifically, the sword—it will take time, as you'll have to take texture stretching and the like into account. Also, a quick Google found these tutorials, which are not advanced, and will be a good start for you if you have never made textures before. If you do well, you can always Google for better ones.

Speaking at someone who has very minimal talents with textures, something I have observed is that colors in FFXI tend to draw from a relatively small palette. If you find a piece of armor with a color you like, isolate that color range into a gradient, mask the part of the armor that you want changed. For example, if you're looking for that particular shade of yellow, draw from *shudder* Lord's Cuirass.
In a broader perspective, if I had to guess, you went to Adjustments -> Variations in photoshop without masking anything. You can change stuff like that, but masking stuff off and using the Color Match feature will get you vastly better results.
Well I just started to do this, I tried to tone down the yellows but its a work in progress.

Just keep working at it. Fortunately, the Internet is overflowing with art-related tutorials. If you want to emulate specific textures, you should be able to find out how.
Is there a mooshy .dat blog hiding around anywhere?
