Yep, exactly that.
Yep, exactly that.
ooooh gurl ryko
they're talking about you vs ryokoyaksa in tactical discussion, official brawl tier list discussion
(ooooh ooooh gurl!PP)
link?
Nvm found it
Lol, Ryoko is so easy to read if you can outlast his annoying tactics. He's one of those people that "play to win" and will use and abuse all of Zelda's "techs". As long as I can stay out of his dtilt spamming, din fire camping, chain jacket ways I can easily out camp him as Diddy.
*shrug* he plays like a tournament player would (in tournaments you eliminate risks and stick to staples and getting your opponent flustered). He's not a flashy player so it shouldnt be hard to read him, but there's readable that you can punish and readable in the "yeah but what are you going to do about it?" sense. He's not playing to win because he doesn't really care, he doesnt particularly like brawl either, doesn't take it seriously.
This.
I can say this coming as a person who ohhhh I dunno... plays Ryoko on a some what frequent basis?
Also, he has his shit down. He knows thresh holds really well and knows what is an guaranteed string/combo and what isn't. Also, it's damn near impossible to try to fluster him. The man is damn near emotionless when he plays so if you're not always keeping it cool, you're in trouble.
Edit: I laughed a lot at the idiot who thought Zelda had a super advantage over Ike. He wanted results and was like "When Ike beats Ryoko's Zelda, then we'll talk."
I also rofl'd at the "Or Drk. Peach's Peach."
I saw that and went "Oh wait. He did."
Seriously fuck anyone who thinks Ike isn't worth middle tier or higher. Ryoko(?) has made leaps and bounds along with several others to advance that character that far.
Sadly, I wish I could say the same for Marth and/or Snake. I'm trying to lean away from Snake atm though. I feel too scrubby winning with him and the whole JP Soft-Banning him makes me think it's time to pick up a "legit" character.
I tried to get him to smile the last time we played (which was a longass time ago) and he said something to the effect of "I dont like to smile"... so i thought ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh he's one of THOSE people (my first roommate was one of THOSE people too)
i also did a sad little sigh to myself when people cite Drk. Peach as "someone to beat"He's really someone who knows a couple things, but has HUGE HOLES in their game, and he calles them "mindgames." Yeah, ok, pulling a turnip, running at someone to get them to shield/respond, only to run through them and throw it from behind is a mindgame. Really now. I can understand baiting a reaction to learn how someone reacts, but he preaches that he plays different than everyone else, and nobody else in the entire peach community ever does the shit he does. OHGOD IM ON ANOTHER RANT AGAIN
I hate Drk. Peach, and someday i'd like to take his money in a MM in a recorded match, then post it on youtube and dog him in the description. IM THAT HARDCORE >

I think people should play who they like to play for fun, competitively. I dont understand people who pick up characters they dont specifically like---just to win. Yeah, money, but you can make better money with a job or something, than waste your time playing a game all day just for a chance to win some money at a small tourney, and maybe, perhaps, at something big. Get a job, play the character you like to play, and go about your business. I guess winning is fun for some people... so win with the character you like? idk
I like: Peach, pikachu, lucario, olimar, zss, zelda, sheik, and certain kirbys with cute masks (*'-') But only peach, zelda, and pika handle well, and thats probably because i played peach and zelda in melee, and pika in ssb and ssbm. Peach is the only one i feel completely comfortable with to the point where I AINT 'FRAID NO-BODY!
(and i love to hear "I hate Peach.")
/rant?
edit: god i type a lot
Christ I'm kinda pissed now since they mentioned not one but 2 people I play regularly.
I'm like the exact opposite, lol. Even at tourneys, I compliment the other players, because like you said... it's a game, and no matter how competitive the scenario is, I'm never going to take it to THAT level.
@Tsu: Play who you like, fuck how incredibly OP he is. If you like Metaknight because he's your favorite villain in a video game, then play him. I chose Diddy because monkeys are fucking AWESOME, and now he's high tier. Do I feel cheap playing him? Hell no. I don't care if you hate nanners, I'll still play him even if you can't keep up. Although, in friendlies I'll switch to Marth/Ike if the person complains too much<_<
Speaking of these emotionless people...
The night Brawl came out there was a tourny before the game was sold at midnight. We had to random the character we'd use.
Out of the 60 people I got to the finals; me as Zelda and this guy as something I can't remember. Foolishly, they wanted us to random again for the finals which led to my loss (PKMN Trainer... vs his Samus -_-). Nevertheless, I congratulated him and he didn't even so much as LOOK at me when I spoke to him or at my hand extended to him to shake. He walked away...
Anyway. This so called tier list is surprising to me tbh. I'd have to disagree with some character choices such as Bowser being in the same tier as Ike or DK being that high. I think, in the end, I will stick to the tier list based on tourny results.
That's exactly how the SBR tier list was created. You can thank the midwest for bowser being that high and DK really is a rough character (Bum taking first week after week with him had something to do with that).I think, in the end, I will stick to the tier list based on tourny results.
The midwest from what I gather isn't exactly amazing all around. I know of a number of good players from there and talk to them regularly but frmo what I hear the difference in skill is pretty wide.
DK is really high because he's a snake and marth counter.
He's actually a counter to a fuck ton of characters and has the best wop in the entire game >_>
Edit: as far as i'm concerned my only real beef with the current tier list is that DDD and R.O.B are in top. Maybe even falco I mean they're really good characters but not top tier at all, there's no reason to have 6 chars in top.
Thats why they revise it though
The original had falco and rob in high but after discussion they moved them to top
MD/VA is where the metagame is cultivated
I think bowser is that high in large part due to his suicide grab. He gets ahead and resets his old stock with your new one, and he's instantly a whole stock ahead. Ground grab and airgrab, UpB to break combos and chaingrabs, and he's decent with a chance to get ahead, where he suicides to stay ahead.. But what do i know![]()

Or this (seesh thats crazy)
I seem to have probs with small characters still but I think thats just my weakness in general even when I use small characters myself
You guys act like all MW is horrible, lol. Truth of the matter though, most MW I know hates Brawl, and <3s Melee. Chicago especially, but eh, I hold my own against players who regularly spar against people like Ken and M2K. A guy named Trixy went to my weekly this week, and he was really good (apparently he made $1500 in brawl tourneys so far), and I beat his Snake/R.O.B with my Diddy and Ike, but both were close matches. They were some fun games though;O
