I think what will have to be done is to test using Blitzstrahl (4.5 second cast with stun effect) on a mob like an elemental that can use Ancient Magic. Hopefully get a few very clear instances of Blitzstrahl start > AM start > Blitzstrahl land > stun wear > AM land/interrupt. The main thing that bothers me is the idea that the time the cast starts should have anything to do with the stun effect, glitch or not. You should be able to start casting a 30-second stun cast and if it happens to land while a mob is casting it should stun it, there's no reason it would be programmed otherwise.

I guess another possibility, if not just chatlog confusion where the stun had already worn as I suggested above, would be that the stun lands at the exact same time as the mob chooses to start casting, so the game doesn't break the tie and just lets both go ahead.

I know quite frequently on BRD if I am stunned (or knockback, but that's a different discussion) during a song, and the stun wears before my normal casting would end, I will continue the cast and complete it. The first time I noticed this was WAAAAAY back when we used to merit on Decorative Weapons in sky. This phenomenon isn't 100% for me, but it definitely works with a noticeable frequency.

So Bahamut seems to be able to play by the same rules as a PC, and you had an extremely short duration stun.

ive noticed the same thing with brd songs and silence too while fighting imps, ill start singing just before it uses deafening move and if i get silena in time then the song still goes off, so i guess stun/silence status etc is only checked at the start and end of spells, just like fast cast. brd songs might be a special case however since they are only interrupted by movement

The chatlog is not always accurate. Black mages can attest to the fact that if you cast sleep on a mob and it has a dot on it, the spell wears in the chat log before the spell lands.

    Linktri starts casting Sleep II.
Pedolix Tarutoucher is no longer asleep.

    Pedolix Tarutoucher is asleep.

I've seen very short lived stuns do the same thing. It's not a resist (I don't think it's a resist anyhow.), but the stun effect lasts only a split second.

    Situation:

Groundskeeper starts floating. I headbutt asap... stuns it. I think "oh good..." two seconds later, it decides to blow up anyways.

Headbutt and stun were landed 3~4 seconds before it exploded.

brd songs are an exception to the interrupt rule. if you get stunned after starting and before finishing, it will go off no matter what unless you're still stunned at the cast point. you'll see this all the time on aura statues.

magic will be interrupted no matter what. you can start freeze1, get stunned early, and wait 15 seconds and you will get interrupted 100% of the time. has nothing to do with being stunned at the cast point.

doll meltdown, like singing, is also an exception to the rule. if you stun too early in their animation and it wears off before the cast point, it will still blow up. always wait at least 1-2 seconds before stunning it.

being slept only interrupts your spell if you're still slept at the cast point. if you start casting anything (song, magic), and someone wakes you or a dot ticks before the cast point, you will not get interrupted. have seen this plenty of times on npcs and pcs.
