HBO: True Blood (New Series) & Entourage (Season 5)

So what did you all think of True Blood? The reviews made it sound horrible, rife w/ prejudice and discrimination undertone, so that's prolly why I watched it w/low expectations... but aside the first 15~ minutes of it I enjoyed it, a lot. But they put way too much into that one episode and I seems rather predictable, so I hope that doesn't turn out to be the case

I'm looking forward to Entourage Season 5... It's gotten a little more dull over the years, but still very great :D

I was surprised, but I thought Trueblood was actually pretty good... I didn't think I'd like it. Entourage was good, but I wanted more out of a season premier.

True Blood wasn't too bad, but it definitely will need a few more episodes for me to make a firm decision on it. Some things I liked, some things I didn't. I think the show has a lot of promise but that doesn't mean it will translate into a great series.

True Blood was ok. Nothing edge of your seat gripping, but it kinda makes you want to see what happens next. Plus anything with Anna Paquin = win. She's hot as a blonde. From the previews next week, it looks to be picking up a bit more with that vampire coming back to save her or w/e.

I don't know the names as I was lvling mnk at the time, but I know who's who.

I thought True Blood was interesting. I know it's adapted from a series of novels called the "Southern Vampire" series, I may actually check out the books. I'm not really into vampire shit, but I like the juxtaposition of vampires coming "out of the coffin" as a civil rights issue, since they are living in society but there is still some prejudices both in favor (fangbangers?? lol) and against them. Usually they are just these powerful creatures living in shadows and/or anonymity, but it's more interesting when they're out in the open.

The opening scene was hilarious. "Ha ha, I had you going!" then "If I ever see you impersonating one of us again, I'll fucken kill you. Have a great day!" (paraphrase)

Entourage was okay. I like the storyline of Medellin bombing, and how is Vince going to come back (or is he?) from that. It's also nice to see (or see it implied, since we don't actually SEE it) that Turtle gets to bust a nut and not work hard for it, for once.

I love the show, but as far as a premiere goes, I think it was so-so. I want to see more development as far as Ari/Lloyd goes, where Ari seemed to grow a conscience at the end of the last season when they were wooing that TV writer.

This... she is extremely hot, but they went out of there way to make the entire cast very good looking... I didn't see one bad/ok looking main character. It just seems they can play the vamp card in the same manner as racial prejudice towards blacks and injustice towards gay's have been in the past... i really hope it doesn't turn into that kind of show. Right now it seems like they are kinda poking fun at it all, but it can also go into that sorta direction where it becomes the main underlying theme.

I'm interested to see how next week's episode pans out

will be more interested if she doesn't get bitten. And I liked how they play-out Suuki's mind-reading abilities and her contact w/ the vampire being able to nullify her powers

Entourage was great, but I also wanted more from the series premier (would it kill em to do an hr premier)... I will say though... The way Ari & E tag-teamed Vince towards the end had me laughing so hard. They are like twins now
Oh yeah... I heard they are bringing back Dom this season. I guess he was intended to be a main cast member, but since the public hated him so much they wrote him out of the series quickly (haha). So they are bringing him back w/terminal cancer in hopes of ppl being able to sympothise(sp) w/him now.... fuck that... if they bring him back I hope he dies in 2 episodes <_<

Got into entourage around the end of season 4, watched the previous seasons... my thoughts are pretty much already here. Premier was good, but could have been better for a premier. I really disliked the Dom character, but as someone who would make a few appearances per season I wouldn't mind him, as he brings some conflict into the show. Trying to get sympathy with cancer though? I'm not too sure I support the writers on that one.

Yeah, it was more or less that she couldn't read his mind specifically. Whether or not that means she can't read -any- vampires mind or just his, I don't know. I thought the show was okay but the accents were definitely driving me crazy. I'll probably give it another episode before I make up my mind.

Entourage is one of my favorite shows but I really wish the episodes were longer. I was kind of hoping that Vince would be in his "fuck hollywood, I'm getting a tan w/ my ladies" mood a bit longer, kinda didn't believe that he went from full beard and no interest to clean cut and talking to a director/producer within a single 20 minute episode.

Entourage is worth watching just for Ari though, so who cares.
