There is no doubt the exec's haven't realized that Ari pretty much drives the show now. Him and E are by far my favorite and I can't get enough of either. But I liked how E was acting during the premier when Vince was gone, and I hope he doesn't just go back into his old role w/Vince back in town (was dissapointed when E was waiting in the car w/everyone else during Vince's meeting)... he needs to turn into Ari V. 2
wow that dress paquin was wearing tonight...
I thought last night's episode of True Blood was better than the first, but there's still a lot I'm not buying. The show has all these elements that could be really awesome if they all came together. Unfortunately a lot of the secondary characters are flat and some of the subplots are simply boring.
I also have to wonder about this world ... There's a clear parallel being drawn between the discrimination of vampires and homosexuals in our world. That doesn't quite cut it for me. Vampires are fighting to get rights in society in this world but ... Why? Bill is clearly supposed to be the "good guy" vampire but he had pretty much no problem in killing people who hurt Sookie. Sure, the rednecks had it coming, but Bill is supposed to be the moral anchor for the viewer of why vampires deserve the right to live along side humans. If even the good guy vampires simply kill whatever humans stand in their way and vampires are so much stronger than humans, why don't they simply demand power and take it? Or is that where the show is going with the preacher getting killed? Have the collective world of vampires recently all came out of the closet and said, "Surprise! We're real!" If not, then why is everyone treating them like it?
So far the show is just soft-core sex scenes, the developing relationship between Bill & Sookie (which feels like it came a little fast to me), and mostly forgettable supporting cast. I'm not sure how many more episodes this show will last before it's flat out gratuitous but the cliffhangers are enough to keep me curious going into next week.
Yes. It was established in the first episode that vampires announced their existence with the invention of the synthetic blood for which the show is named.
As for why they don't simply take power, they're being paralleled with real world minorities and one assumes they are just that, a minority. If they started roaming the streets killing and drinking whomever, they'd have the entire nation(or nations, we've only dealt with America but I imagine this is a global thing) at war with them. Superior strength wouldn't be enough if they're outnumbered 10-1. Not to mention there was that weakness to silver which, if those two rednecks discovered, you can be sure the military knows about.
Overall it's much easier for them to say "look, we're harmless, we're just like you" and try to gain acceptance while quietly eliminating anyone who turns him or herself into a roadblock on their path.
I don't know about True Blood, I've watched both episodes now and it isn't one of those shows where I'm completely hooked and can't wait to find out what happens next. It gets kind of boring, and the only character I really like so far is the black friend Tara, who has some really funny dialogue.
Entourage wasn't so good last night either. Kind of a let down to be honest. The show is just too short, it drives me nuts. Right when I think that something fun is about to happen the credits start to roll! Ugh! Ari had some good moments last night, but for the most part it wasn't my favorite episode to say the least.
I was tired when I watched True Blood last night, so gonna re-watch it tonight. But I fell asleep 1/2 through it (lol). I like Suuki & Bill (the vamp), but the rest of the supporting cast is kinda lack luster.... It doesn't mean they can't become something but I just dunno what purpose they are supposed to serve. And yeah, major soft-core porn action action going on - w/I find to be stupid. A few things that I couldn't help but laugh at were (before I fell asleep):
#When Suuki drinks Bill's blood... W/in seconds she is like whoring up his arm and being all sexually suggestive. I'm sorry, but w/in 2 seconds she shouldn't be fully healed and able to drink like that... and they played too much on the sexual tension between them w/her making love to his hand.
#When Suuki's brother goes to that girl's house he hooked up w/and makes out w/her. He goes there crying about almost being sent to jail, and they start making love? W.. T... F lol
Entourage sucked yesterday. Had very little energy and none of the actors seemed to mesh well together. The only good part imo was the very end when Drama and got in the car all drunk lol. Drama seems to be stealing the show so far this season.. I hope thats not the case
True Blood seems like it's going to be one of those shows where a little more happens each episode, until it finally builds into something huge. Heroes started that way for me. I thought the first few episodes of that were really kinda slow, but then after a few it really picked up the pace and turned into a great show. I'm not by any means comparing the two, but we have no idea what kind of direction that this show is going to go in. I'm hoping for some vampire civil war
I also didn't realize how strong Bill was. He pretty much wrecked those 2 rednecks without any effort. I'm really not fond of Sukki's friend. I don't find her too funny, and seems to be the "Blame everything on the white man" Kind of character. It gets old quick. It also looks like there is going to be something sexual between Suuki's brother and her. Some of the looks she gave him and her inquiring was a definite give away.
There's a lot of needless sex in the show. Not that it's really a bad thing, but it doesn't really add anything at all to the show. Next weeks looks to be interesting from the preview, with more vampires coming into play.
I like all the sex in the show, but I did think it was sort of weird the way she was making out with his arm.
God the acting in True Blood is terrible.
It's an ok show...not sure where they're going with it so far, but I'll give it a few more episodes before I stop watching.
Meanwhile, I'm still upset they cancelled John From Cincinatti. I wanted to see wtf was going on with that guy.
the accents and the black chick are making trueblood a miserable experience for me.
I don't know, butchie instead.
monad show had good 1-liners, but story was horrible if existent.
I'll probably end up watching True Blood just because it comes on before entourage. Entourage kicks ass. Not one main character on that show i dislike. I just hope it doesn't turn into a season long of them going back and forth on whether he's going to do aquaman 3.
Vince is disowned from Warner, they won't hire him for anything lol
True Blood needs to drop the black chick. Fake attitude is fake.
no previews on torrents

I watched about 15minutes of trueblood... Bad acting + Worst southern accents I've ever heard on TV + sorry i don't really like that chick I think shes terrible.
Aweful show... So glad I didn't watch more of the episode, or any others if there is any. The summaries im reading in this thread make me think its even more of a joke.
I don't know, I kind of like True Blood. Yeah the acting isn't the greatest, but it's the first season and only two shows in, not much time for the actors and actresses to get in a groove. The first few episodes of Entourage were the same way iirc.
For me it really depends on what direction they go. I'll give it a season and see where they have the characters headed, if it doesn't improve then I probably wont be watching it next year. Right now it's on before Entourage so I watch it, not very impressed with Entourage either though... If they do Aquaman 3 that'll be a borefest for a season. Honestly right now I'm more interested in Drama and Eric, especially Eric's other clients. Turtle and Vince have been sort of meh so far.
True Blood last night was interesting. Bill tapped that ass.
Entourage on the other hand - fucking win. "That's a bitch slap, because you're a bitch. Now apologize."
