Nintendo? Thats fucking Atari. Anyway you can fix your graphics in ffxi config its not that hard and youll like it alot. Most shitty graphics card can handle it a s well so yours most likely can

Mine can handle a lot more, I just don't care and like performance in crowded areas etc. And yeah, traded in the weapon and showed some people the ws using pluto's staff.

i actually had a little trick for that, just running in circles until the last few seconds, forces everyone to draw out. ;p
But this is waaaaaaay off topic.

that said, you could just change your settings before a fafnir camp instead of having the game look like that all the time.

Sure going to 20 will help with points but according to the quest dialogue and all of the quest text all it says and says a few times just wield your weapon and over time the power will come out more or less, teh only thing it says about nyzul island is if you climb up you will have better affinity with your weapon, so less points.

Also the GM has started there is no minimum floor requirment.

I am wondering, the people that are having problem, any of your ws points done in the past , not in campaign but just normal mobs? 95% of my points are on crabs in the past, I am wondering if its not recording points in the past, shouldnt be but just taking a stab.

Unlocked all my weapons along with the rest of the server on Vunkurl Crabbities.

I broke 2 weapons using only past mobs.

you raise an interesting point... which also has me worried. because I've spent the past few days after work in vunkerl inlet. and 95% of my mobs too are crabs... hmmmn. Did around 700 ws points the night of the patch. I'm floor 20, and I'm certain I've done 5000 ws points up to this date.

ok good thanks, about 6k of mine was on crabs. Ok scratch that one off list, still have, Points obtain from skillchaining with puppet valid, still on the list

Take this with the necessary grain of [GM] salt, but Old Krondros says something kinda interesting in this conversation taken from the last page:

The player then explains that he has actually received the second level of NPC text relating to the quest's progress.

To which the [GM] replies:

"For Samurai it is particularly difficult, however you may want to see if dropping the weapon and restarting is viable"


What does that bold comment mean? Am I just missing some obvious aspect to SAM, is the [GM] talking non-sequitur nonsense, or could it be that the SAM weapon somehow actually requires more WS points to unlock..?

Just struck me as a peculiar thing for the [GM] to say.

ya that is odd. maybe every job has different requirements, maybe sam and pup have more cause they can skillchain better then other jobs or do more of them?

My assumption when I read it was that the GM was trying to show some sympathy towards the player, who was currently on SAM, and that it had no special hidden meaning.

actually the gm i talked to actually went and researched the quest while i was waiting, so i have some faith in him.

where are the crabs in V. Inlet, any aggro by there, can i sit there afk?

Right next to where you are ported in pretty much. No aggro from crab/pugil, only haunts that pop at night, but the haunts have a small roam range so you can afk for hours without dying.

Just accumulated 5,511 WS points with a floor 20 disc and nothing. Talked to the NPC and he's still giving me the second message. Guess I'll wait until I climb to 40 this Thursday and see what happens.

I find it funny the GM acknowledges it's "a game quirk" but yet it's working as intended.
