Just got Omniscience (Floor 80 Disc, Captain Rank, Used WS Checker, 805 Points is what it took):

So basically I have Ascetic's Fury, Insurgency and Omniscience.

Ascetic's Fury took 1111 points (Same Floor 80 Disc, Captain Rank, BUT I used tallies on paper to count)

Insurgency took 845 points (Same Floor 80 Disc, Captain Rank, BUT I used a TI 83+ calculator to count)

Omniscience took 805 points (Same Floor 80 Disc, Captain Rank, BUT I used the Weapon Checker program to count).

With the exception of floor 45, and two outliers that I'd write off as human error in counting, it looks like we've got a winner within a ~10% margin of error.

If those floor 45's are my numbers, i posted that i was at floor 49, i think a couple other people mentioned a single floor changing their point totals also. On a strange note, i got my disc to floor 50 and my Brave Blade took me 2720 points @_@ (using the counter program this time as oppose to my 2625 and 2645 being tally'd on paper) I'd be really surprised if i was 20 skillchains off...i wonder why the variation though?

Regarding weapon checker , but maybe a stupid question : does it really retrieve the data from the server on the specific weapons? I have done a couple WS from my Salvage run tonight and I noticed my Wightslayer got an increase in WS count. Supposedly, don't salvage mobs never count as a valid target for getting WS count? (don't give XP and/or /check Impossible to Gauge)

Used windslicer for 3 hours in dyna, no point increase. I'm fairly sure its accurate.

It doesn't actually get the numbers from the server, that is privileged information available only to the client. What the program does is retrieve the client's copy of the information from your system memory. This information is refreshed when you zone which is the reason you need to do so to get an accurate reading from the WS checker program.

Regarding what mobs you can get points from, I'm not sure if ITG status eliminates the chance of getting points. I'll pay closer attention next Nyzul and see if I get any points from NMs in there (though I can't remember if the NMs yield exp).

I'm currently at 1205 points on floor 55, and will be climbing to 70 on Wednesday, so I should have another data point for WS acquisition by then. All of my points have been acquired after the 9/16 update.

Has anyone done more work with this chart? I'm inclined to believe this is the better model. It would account for the first few models seeming linear and failing at lower floors/higer points needed since a parabola approximates a straight lines at the "ends", and the first few data points where from the people at the "ends" (higher floors/lower points).

My question is : Is the total of WS points will calculate when I started the quest or following the evolution of my runic Disk ?

The quest is progressive with your runic disk. If you climb high enough to meet the requirements of the quest at a certain floor, you should see the weaponskill in your menu.

Example:

Current points: 400
Current disc: 96

If you clear floor 100, you will obtain the weaponskill.

As it's been said many times already in the thread; your required point total continues to decrease as you make progress in Nyzul Isle. So yes, it follows the evolution of your Runic Disc.

That would fit quite well, then...assuming liner values from 45->50, 49 would be about 2712, giving 3.2% and 2.6% differences. Now we only have two extreme outliers in that model to figure out, and we've got a good fit.

no, it doesn't retrieve the data from the server, it retrieves it from memory. The count in memory is only updated after zoning or under certain conditions that aren't quite clear. if there was a change while you were in salvage you should check again after, to be sure.
