The scaling can be done better, especially with AF+1 lol.

I was ok with the update. The only thing I hated was when the person we are level-sync with leveled up, all the buffs wore off.
Level 35 players were already gimp compared to level 75 players with merits applicable to that job. How many players were ever excluded from exp parties for not being merited? You think people are going to be left sitting in LFG because they don't have an extra 10 acc from level capped gear?
And I'm not talking about the direct penalty to gear for being capped, I'm talking about the severe penalty between capped gear and gear of that level range, which doesn't make much sense. Should an e-body scale down to do practically nothing at level 59, the level you can equip haubergeon? No, it should scale down to be slightly worse.
I agree and honestly many of us worried about the equipment scaling even before the patch came out.
SE said they will improve the way stats scale in the future. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Problem is that... how do you create a formula for that?
You need to take into account the level of the item, and the destination-level (the level you sync to). The bigger the difference, the bigger the reduction as much as I believe any normal stat shouldn't go under +1.
Then you have special stats which hardly scale, like an added bonus. Probably you may want to just avoid those.
Another problem is for bonuses which come in low numbers. With a % reduction formula, those items wouldn't result in a difference big enough between pre-capped and capped.
Can anybody try to scale at level 70, to see what happens?
Anyway, I wanna be optimistic and believe that this thing will be slightly tweaked in a future patch![]()
The first party I scaled down in was from 75-41 on THF. I took along any capped gear I had (bounding boots, emp's pin, spike necklace) and only lost about 10 DEX overall. My accuracy parsed high and I outdamaged the DRK who actually was level 41. More importantly I had a lot of fun and got much, much, much needed THF exp buffer. For my money this update is a lot of fun. While it may not be worth it to slow down my exp rate at 75 on SAM, I usually find meriting frustrating on THF. Going back to a party where I was helping hold hate (using old school first voke/skillchain tactics) was fun. I can't wait to get my shot at colibri.
first, players are fickle, they can't see merits but they can see gear. you can say you have all the merits you want but it won't matter cause the guys in the party can't see it.
and there are actually very very few cross job applicable merits. merits like HP MP Enmity really have little affect on XP PTs. and STR INT merits are not as significant as racial differences and we know most people don't have much racial bias.
only skill merits matter and you need to have very specific jobs leveled to have applicable skill merits for another job.
Haub is great gear, Haub +1 is optimal gear. average gear is like the Royal Knight's Chainmail.
they should and likely will have slight tweeks but SE is erring on the right side for this one.
With basically no chance of seeing non level-synced parties in the future, I hope most players at least keep a few level capped staple items around for jobs they plan to XP (ACC rings, capped weapons, RSE).
Overall, quite nice though. Previously inconsequential slots no longer need to get filled by low level gear, but every other item is basically as useful as it was before...
And yeah, putting together a party of 2~6 people - at any time - is trivial now.
I have to agree, all this rampant QQing is fucking bullshit. We know some people don't like it, that's fine. But spare the rest of us 6 pages of constant bitching, gawd.
SE did state that scaled down gear would not be better than gear at that lvl.
How badly does this effect weapons though? Do they end up being roughly the same as weapons of that lvl, or gimped?
I tried to read this thread, but just couldn't. So much inarticulate bitching..
I don't see why you find it so hard to believe that a few people would be angry that being just 1 level below the target item will gimp it to oblivion.
The post above yours stated he had is empress hairpin at level 23 (one belows its intended level), and it gave -15HP, thats it.
Or the Kirin's Osode at level 74 giving +3 to all stats.
its not that we were expecting K.O to have +3 to everything at level 10. but +1 wouldn't kill :\
heck, +1 STR/VIT/MND/CHR on K.O would be acceptable. but now instead of having something worth using, you have a NQ Bronze harness.
And damnit i'm usually on SE's side with these things, but completely removing all Positive stats with being only 1 or 2 levels under the intended level, and keeping negative stats at FULL power... its just so disappointing :<, they could have at least scaled the Negative stats, But no... This is just Frustrating BS
Here comes the SE fanboy's charging uphill to defend yet another fail patch.
No see im actually angry, You don't read much do you?
I understand its hard to grasp the difference in "angry at this Bullshit" and "You guys this is awesome lawl", But if you reread... it'll become clear, srsly
Or are you talking about the person i quoted.
But seriously if you're directing that at me, take reading comprehension classes
A piece of armor with good defense and +1 to all stats at level 10?
I can't think of anything that good at that level.
Hmmm, well... hmmm
ok damn, that would be broken.
maybe +1 DEX then on the Osode, at at level 20 +1STR +1DEX due to Mercenaries Gi and Kenpogi +1...?
I don't remember specifically but does it keep the HP? MP? Light Resist? that doesn't seem to broken to keep on.
hell, +3HP +3MP +3 Light resist wouldn't be to much to ask for would it?
It was fun, sucked that a lot of my crap was useless, but I still had a good amount of acc/att/stats from the random shit that worked and the gear I had around still.
The big thing was, I went out with a friend of mine, capped to his level on my favorite job, got a random tell from another friend, so he joined us... and we went and slogged through monsters together for a while out in Gusta [S]. The Drk and I got about 3k limit points, the Smn got 3k exp... and it was fun. In that alone I think it is a success.
