Certainly a freelance. I think this proves it. Probably curing it influences it.
Also, More than likely not an avatar, unless they make this the 6th (and 7th?) Terrestrial avatar. Doesn't go in with the storyline of FFXI.
...But... neither does new job AF in dynamis...
Go figure.
Freelances aren't /checkable though, are they?
Its starting to look like perhaps Auroral Alicorn is part of the WoTG storyline, but who knows, really. Kind of hard to find data on it, at this point, with it being so new and all. >.<
Been trying to find it here on Bahamut server, but no luck yet.
it was dark
Stop trying to kill the pony dammit!
It is definitely a Freelance NPC because it shows up in the Monster/NPC list for different campaign zones including cities:

maybe trying to kill it means being gathered near it furiously hammering enter on attack
Cait Sith and Atmos are already a different type of avatar than the Terrestrial and Celestial avatars. (Terrestrials- Bahamut, Phoenix, Diabolos, Fenrir, and Carbuncle; one for each of the mother crystals. Celestials- Ifrit, Shiva, Garuda, Tital, Ramuh, Leviathan, Alexander, and Odin; one for each of the prime elements.)
The unoffical name that I liked the most for this group was "Temporal Avatars", who knows what Square will call them though.
Extraterrestrial avatars
Extradimensional avatars

But if this were the case, then way was the June update all:

(I just can't post that enough.)
This is SE after all, we all know how they just love how to do a 180 on us. What with, "You're killing AV to fast!" and "No, no! You're not killing him fast enough!"
"New job relics can't exist in current dynamis zones since they didn't exist in the past!" to "INTRODUCING: Us being douchebags and adding relic to current day dynamis zones. Fuck you, niggers."
inb4 Genbu becoming summonable.![]()
3 things i think we're missing
#1 Has anyone found Said Sch Freelancer? it might just be me but maybe you trade him Dark Ixion Horns
#2 Summoners need a Pony!
#3 i though Odin and Alexander we're Terra class? but since there not summonable doesn't really matter
That SCH NPC might or might not count as a freelance. When I checked Sandy's stats, it had "Unknown" for Freelances, and that usually means 0. On the other hand, I'm sure he's nation-dependent, since he gave me 0 info as a Bastokan in San d'Oria.
Odin & Alexander are the Darkness and Light representatives of the elements and are part of the Windurstan constellations, thus they are the last of the Celestial Avatars. Celestial Avatars, if the myths are true, were empowered by Altana with the element that best fit their nature (or wherever they were standing at the moment). They reside in protocrystals most of the time, sleeping until the day they must return...Spoiler: show
Terrestrial Avatars are beasts who have gained great power and wisdom from Vana'diel, the planet. They have various roles and titles within the cosmos, but it's not really known who tasked them with it... We're currently able to summon 3 of the 5 confirmed Terrestrial Avatars, we are able to fight a 4th, and the 5th is God knows where.
Despite being summons from older games, I'm not sure if Atomos & Cait Sith can definitely be classified as Avatars, there isn't enough information. There's no way to know one way or another if they are or aren't Terrestrials or something new, though it's highly doubtful they're Celestials. They may not have gotten their power from Vana'diel or Altana, however, Diabolos also exists in a parallel dimension and is still classified as a Terrestrial. Anyway, there are only two things that truly separate Avatars from just incredibly powerful monsters, God-like power that allows them to have chunks of it drawn away and still fight at full strength and the ability to speak. Phoenix is the only Terrestrial with no speaking lines, but I think it can be safely assumed she simply didn't have the strength for it. Every other Avatar has spoken at one point or another. I say this because when TOA was coming out, I thought Cerb would be an Avatar, as it was in FF8. Now he has multiple copies and has been pretty clearly defined as a species of monster. With this new Ixion and the SCH freelance's information regarding it, both Light and Dark versions are described as being part of a species of beasts. Ixion and Cerberus may be powerful, but so are other monsters, so the only thing that really makes people want them as avatars over, say, a behemoth is their name.
I'd try to feed it a carrot. Or an apple. >.>
About Atomos, I thought the stupid Maw's were something to do with Atomos? I don't pay enough attention to WotG >.> and isn't the Cait Sith constellation already confirmed as just that stupid cat in WotG storyline? I doubt it'd be an avatar. Unless that's SE's big joke at the end of WotG;
"lol, SMN's get... Cait Sith!"
SMN's:"WTF D:"
