Yeah, except with a different Gorget.

I'm also noticing random high results. In Nyzul I was averaging 1200 but ocassionally I would deal out 1700 or 1900 with no variation in TP return. I assumed it was just a different mob-type producing higher damage (something more squishy), but then I had this funny idea: What if it worked like a Tredecim Scythe in that after X number of WSes, your first hit was a guaranteed critical?

I have no proof for this, but it'd be pretty funny if it were like that. I'll go out and test on some birds now to see if I can figure anything else out.

Besides there are very limited selection to MAB gear for RNG, I think when you want to pick magic damage WS vs physical damage WS, you want to consider magic accuracy somewhere.
Seems like the optimal usage for TF is apollo's+mxbow+holies.

Some quick tests I did with Omniscience

    381 +23 INT, +23 MND, Soil Gorget, MAB +21
    338 +26 INT, +21 MND

It seems MND is a modifier, and MAB affects damage, so I am assuming its a magical WS. It switched to darksday during testing, and I got a couple random 10% bonuses compared to the rest of the results, so I think it might be dark based.

lol Therin, I was actually thinking of that as well. But it just seems too random lol. Definitely give it a try. Perhaps this ws works backward, the first hit has the least ftp and then it goes higher and higher and if you DA, the ftp for the extra hits will go even higher than the last hit... Just a random thought, and I know multi hit ws is always x ftp and then 1.0 for the rest. However, this ws probably act very differently from the others. It can very well be 0.35, 0.75, 1, 1.5 and any DA will be 2.0 and up if you DA twice. Very unlikely but just a thought.

I know for sure that Kirschy probably did alot of ws outside of the town, but they will all die from the first hit, thus she didn't find any exception on her test. Perhaps all the hidden effect are after the first hit? I can't wait to find out what's the special mode.

I didn't notice any freak highs on birds today:

All of the high outliers were double attacks, so that's explained.

At least we know it averages well over 1,000. @_@

Has anyone documented damage done on an absorbed mob as opposed to one w/o an absorb spell debuff with Insurgency?

Wait, were those all full tp return? What songs/roll did you have?

Having none under 1k is weird.

Important question tho, is that better than Spinning slash on HNM?

mym can you do two more tests real fast? One naked sch/blm (just to see what the damage is since your MND might be different), and the second alternating elemental debuffs on the mob so we know which mob stat is used (will probably be MND or INT), and the amount of that stat the mandragoras have.

Perhaps Insurgency has a Pdif or cratio bonus, much like Ground Strike, that makes it do relatively better on higher defense mobs than on TWs.

When I was trying to see if there was anything that changed the damage, I did a bunch of SA+Insurgency on Bumblebees outside Windurst. The damage was between 205 and 211 when naked.

Someone mentioned that it might be based off of magical stats (since the weapon had +20MACC on it), so I tested MATK, MACC, and DarkSkill+, none of which had a noticeable change on the damage trend (compared to adding STR).

I tried Absorb-spells, thinking that the debuff on the mob might increase the damage (thanks to the weapon stats), but there was no change (outside of my increased STR or the mob's decreased VIT). Drain II for +300HP didn't change the damage, so it doesn't seem to be based on the player's HP.

I tried using Souleater to see if it had any special properties that would add more damage, but it added the expected 10%. Last Resort (+57 attack) increased the damage by about 50 (I'm having trouble remember now, I'll have to go try it again), but adding straight attack didn't give the same bonus. I'm going to go back and fool around with that later, but were the "freak highs" done with Last Resort active?

I was trying anything that came to my mind and anything that was suggested to me.

Try Insurgency when someone else has more hate then you? It looks like it does good in a pt/normal situation but when people test solo it's not as good. It might work opposite as the pld one (would also fit in with rng/cor and blm/smn having mirroring stuff).

    Yeah. .

Drakesbane is surprisingly consistent and seems to produce stronger results than Penta Thrust assuming you're built well for it.

I'm currently using King's Justice in the same party - I don't think I'm noticing a bonus damage to birds due to the piercing weakness, but it doesn't matter, because King's Justice is also highly consistent and is producing an average WS damage of about 150 above what I remember my Raging Rushes to be (1180 average WS atm).

I had three that were 700ish but they were all first hit ONLY according to the TP return. Or possibly first two hits, 17 TP return (so I guess that's two hits). Sorry for double posting. <_> lol.

    Wait
First hit alone was 700 damage? Edit: Even that being the first 2 hits makes little sense, since the first hit is supposedly so low damage.
And you otherwise didn't miss a single hit?

    ...

    This WS is fucking weird.

Yeah, sorry, I should've listed the ones that I didn't get full TP return on originally. I was just testing for freakishly high results for an unexplained reason, and I didn't see any.

I threw them out of the list because even if there was some unexplained critical damage proc or something that we didn't understand, we wouldn't be able to tell anyway because of the missed hits.

Pulled a Paladin out to Lesser Colibris with me. Only did two WSs, but there wasn't a huge jump like people have reported, so I don't think that's it. Both 20% TP return and both did about the same damage. Tried it a couple more times, two per mob, no change in damage if I have hate on the mob (WSing as I engage) and if the mob is already attacking me.

I'll go hit some level 0 mobs with Mystic Boon and post the damage results. Someone else is going to have to decipher them.

You made it look like it didn't suck. Next time you post values, please post the entire list. Including ones with missed hits.

Another thing to note: I did get several 4 TP return Insurgencies. That would be the first hit missed, and a double attack so that you still have 4 hits overall. Interestingly, they produce the same damage range (1100-1200), so I don't think that there's really anything different from the first hit to the last hit.

That happened three times, and all of those WSes were included in the list I posted before.

Maxx - like I said, out of that very small sample size there were only 3-4 WSes with missed hits and they all did 700-800, and all had 17 TP return, which still puts the WS at a pretty consistent average of over 1,100.
