Vegetto, did you try it under different HP amounts? 750 is just under what half our max hp would be as hume monks.

Despite there being no other explanation, it seems unlikely that SE would add 2 WSs at the same time, make them both do critical damage, but only label one as capable of doing that. Not only that, no other WS in the game randomly crits unless it says it can.

Even by SE's standards that seems pretty random and odd.
These WS in general are pretty odd, but I imagine it would be fairly easy to test if crit is causing the random burst. Load up on all the crit% you can in addition to grouping with a COR for rogue's roll. If you really want to push it further, add a THF into the mix and use an unlocked Gravedigger.

Those mobs were pretty weak in general though? Bhaf wams that is. The damage there seems to be on par with asuran, but heh. WS that blows mostly everywhere that does on par during salvage. Sounds gay to mee unless theres just some secret to it that we don't know about yet

No, I kept my HP up mainly since I was solo'ing and the 750s were rare. The average was about 590

I'm glad it's useful in at least one place that matters. It could definitely be worse. Geirskogul anyone?

(1989 KJ vs. Greater Colibri, for the lazy people)

Perdu Voulge, 100%TP, Chaos Roll, Fighter's Roll, Minuet IV, March, Bergressor, Warcry. 2 Double Attacks. Meat Mithka.

And yes, I know about hide >.> Forgot to change init.txt when I upgraded windower to 3.41

Also did a 300%, 2268 Mighty Strikesed one earlier that pt, didn't have Chaos Roll, but had MinIV, also no Double Attacks. This certainly is an awesome WS :3 And the Skillchain properties are a bonus to the insanity.

Edit: The Birdy had Dia II on aswell.

    Why not? >.>

I have them as a darker colour(and different to damage taken), so I notice the important stuff, like the bright yellow abilities, helps with Stunning things like Fulmination or Gates.

Mordant Rime says "Slow" and it actually does gravity, Rana says damage modified by Tp and it's actually acc modified by TP, it's very possible that they just fucked up

I think one of his points was: Drakesbane says it, Insurgency doesn't; Why would SE mistranslate one and not the other?

Personally I'd have thought some copy/pasting would be in order for the cirtical hit code and the WS desciption on SEs side, however no one can say for sure, but logical thinking points towards Drakesbane not having the exact same properties as Insurgency when regarding the critical/random more damage thing, since they don't say the same information (or say the same incorrect information) as each other.

The final explanation though is that it's just human error. =/ Mystery until they fix the translations IMO.

As for Ascetic's Fury: At least one MNK in my LS has been kicking ass with it, general LS theory on it is that damage is improved via # of buffs on you. During a Dyna-TV he was averaging 700-800, while an equal pimp MNK was hitting 500ish Asurans. Ascetic's was spiking, I know he had quiet a few 1Ks. I know they were varying buffs a bit during the run, but I do not know if they tested after. So someone might wanna try and test it, I won't be unlocking it til I do another 50 floors of Nyzul.

Might also look into it as the number of effects on you period. Like how some mob moves are more powerful if they are debuffed more (Euxation (sp?) comes to mind).

If insurgency can crit then it also gives add effect minus crit rate 70%+. The damage spikes of insurgency are way lower than my crit rate. I seriously doubt insurgency crits.

You obviously didn't read this part:

Personally I'd have thought some copy/pasting would be in order for the cirtical hit code and the WS desciption on SEs side,...
And my conclusion, is basically what you replied with:

The final explanation though is that it's just human error. =/ Mystery until they fix the translations IMO.

So Tachi: Rana and Mordant Rime are still mislabeled? I thought they fixed that.

Regardless, more tests need to be ran on Insurgency, specifically testing whether or not it crits, before we can say "it's mislabeled". Just because we don't know what else it could be doesn't mean that's what it is, unless tests prove it.

The only reasons for spiked WS damage whilst in the same gear is either going to be DA or Crit Proc, (ignoring the mosters buffs/debuffs etc.) and considering the drastic damage spike we have seen, either there's something not quite right in the code, or some special random chance of the WS doing more damage.

Thinking about it, I don't know what they might say in the WS Description though: "Delivers a fourfold attack. Damage varies with TP. Ocassionally deals 1.5x damage. Liberator: Aftermath effect varies with TP."

Never seen an "Ocassionally" in a WS Description before.

    Randomly ignores DEF? I dunno.

Are Mordant Rime and Rana labeled wrong in Japanese too, or is it just a mistranslation from JPN to ENG?

If it's a simple mistranslation Elmer or someone else who understands Japanese could simply ask a Japanese player "what does Insurgency say"? Or, they could go to a JPN FFXI info site and see what the description is.

I pray it isn't some completely RNG based factor that isn't influenceable in any way.

    Edit: Talking about Insurgency.

Ascetic's Fury has a hidden damage multiplier inversely proportionate to the amount of money you are carrying. The less gil on hand, the higher the multiplier. I speculate you can also one-shot Qiqirns if you are carrying 0 gil, but I have not done any testing on this yet. Please be patient.
