If this rumor is true, I doubt I'll see this movie until after the results come out.
After Heath's performance I'm not going to see another Batman until I know for sure that it's as good. @_@
@Norelco
There's a big difference between Heath Ledger as Joker and Johnny Depp as anything in a Batman movie. Heath wasn't well-known to the mainstream audience other than one of the 'gay cowboys'. Depp is very popular. Arguably the most popular working actor today.
After I saw the Dark Knight, my first thought was that Depp would be the replacement for the Joker.
I think it would be different from Ledger, but amazing in its own way.
for anyone that still doesn't know, Two face -is- dead. Eckhart has said it in a interview and has already stated that according to nolan he won't try and write him back in.

“[My character is] dead. I couldn’t even get the words out of my mouth. ‘Hey, Chris, am I–?’ ‘No. You’re dead. You’re dead,’” Eckhart told AICN. “…Well, it’d be easier than anything to bring him back, but… it’s like Chris said on the tour. He wasn’t thinking about the next movie when he made [THE DARK KNIGHT]. All the vegetables were in this stew. I think that this franchise has shown that it doesn’t have to bring back characters. I mean, there’s still Catwoman. I’ve heard Angelina Jolie really wants to do Catwoman; I think that’s a great idea. I’ll be a happy audience member this time.”
I don't like either villian they just arn't too big of a threat but you know nolan he will give them a big makeover to stop them from being camp
no offense, but with the proper amount of makeup, I really think that mark hammil could pull off being a heath ledger joker, it would be in bad taste most likely, and people would be pissed, but ledgers joker wasnt as much heath with some makeup, you really couldnt make out much of his face
only reason I say hammil is he has scars already and has a very good vocal range
personally, I'd like to see Nolan work with Bane. He could make that killing machine into something awesome.
unless they're planning to stop at like 3 movies or start inventing their own villains, the list of batman villains that would work with a nolan film and are not dead isn't long enough to not find a replacement for ledger.
Penguin works pretty okay in a nolanverse. Penguin isn't really a villain these days and what they should do with him is have him play a minor role with great neutrality. Pengiun runs the black market and underground auctions. Batman doesn't see him as a threat and doesn't want to cause a power vacuum by taking him out. And he is mostly a normal, but ugly dude... although he sometimes have this sort of crazy thing about people laughing at him, but that is on and off with writers.
Riddler doesn't need to be a physical threat to be dangerous. A third-party who could find out about Dent's murders and be willing to expose them in a contest of wits against Batman. I would like to see Riddler because it would force Nolan to play up Batman's world-class detective skills.
Bane is bane. He is probably Batman's second or third greatest threat out of everyone who could fit in the nolanverse. There is going to be a power vacuum in Gotham's underworld and Bane, as the new class of criminal Joker discussed, could easily fill it. He's not just muscle, he is a tactical genius. He is sort of an evil batman. The same could be said for Ra al gaul though...
Didn't mean to get all fanfiction on you, but I think they have a lot of potential here.
I'm disappointed with Johny Depp as the Riddler. I really don't think he's as great as people claim. Although he has done exceptionally well in a few films, he's typically failed miserably when handed rolls like this. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, etc.
Charlie and the choclate factory was good IMO and I think he played the role well. I think depp will make an awesome riddler, he's really flexible and does a great job making the characters he plays stand out.
