HDTV suggestions?
My parents are looking to get a HDTV, they have been using an ugly old standard TV...looks horrible so I'm not going to try and talk them out of it. They are looking in the 47-52" range, 1080p, and atm prefer LCD (word of mouth :/) although I think I've got them considering Plasma also. I've told them that the newer Plasmas are much better then the old ones, almost no burn in, longer lifetime, cheaper...etc.
Basically:
47-52"
1080p
LCD or Plasma (still working on this but I think they will consider it)
Less then $2000 ($1500 preferred)
I know the price is low especially in that range, but I've seen 42"s go for $900 so should be able to find a 47" at least in that range.

bump I guess
Sending them to Circuit City today to look at the Samsung PN50A650 and to see if there are some others they might like. Anybody have experience with it? The reviews I've seen on it are pretty good.

Different needs, not a thread stealer, etc. I did read it though and checked the links and stuff.

Hay Cjskater, I bought this TV about 3 months ago and I am in love with it. Works great with Xbox and I hooked up the HDMI cables to it from my PC and looks great. I watched a few movies and on it and was impressed, I mainly use it for watching Baseball games and Football games as of late.
The look and feel, I like the shiny style and small white little that is on the bottom that sorta lights up of stand. It was about $1400 w/warranty, while worth the money.

Haha
Well apparently they liked the TV so much they bought it, even though I told them "you are just looking today." Not sure if they are bringing it home today or not, but when it gets here I'll let anybody who's interested know how it looks. (mental note: go window shopping with parents next time prevent potential mistakes)

Well they did bring it home today, was hell moving the old 37" CRT tv, it has to weigh at least 150-200lbs... anyway the red "Touch of Color" is barely noticeable imo, it's more burgundy then red also. When they got home she told me they tried to sell it to her for over $1900 when online it clearly showed it was $1799. She got them to take it down to $1600, pretty good deal I would say... still shitty of them. Picture looks great to me, good contrast and colors. Need to get a new satellite box with HDMI though, looks ugly (to me, they can barely tell).
Edit: also I got a good laugh out of putting it on 4:3 when they wasn't looking. I think my mom still wants to kill me.
