I think they're just going to focus on the one other universe for now.
However, is the universe that Liv is in now, the same one she went to before?
The producers were talking about how they wanted the altaverse in the finale to show that our universe may not be the 'best' one.
Well the one she was in last week was sure as hell a lot darker and worse off than ours so that makes me think there's at least three.
One thing I don't get is that, wasn't the alternate universe supposed to be chaotic? In Olivia's flashes the city is covered in fire, but if anything the opposite happens and major tragedies in American history have been avoided. Maybe there really will be more than just the 2 universes?
Maybe they were flashes of the future of the current universe?
It depends on how you look at the newspaper. Yes, there are two people currently alive in that verse who are dead in Olivia's original one and 9/11 never happened. Why would the Markets be closed and a move to a 'New' White House be in order? If there were mass disturbances I could see them closing them down, and perhaps the old White House got itself blown up. Though there is the fact when they panned out at the end, there was no evidence of multiple burnings, etc. Guess we just have to wait.
I think that they are the same altverses. They were different cities after all.
I think Olivia is connected to the altverse where Bell is, but I do not think that Peter came from there. I really think the altverse where Peter was had to be some kind of hellish place, since that is what prompted Walter to make the 'the patch' since he was worried about what might come through.
We are seeing one city and everyone is making their assumptions that this is not the same alt universe that Olivia saw earlier.
You can easily make the assumption that instead of the terrorist attack hitting the Twin Towers it could of hit the White House. Which is why the Obama's are moving into the New White House. Some one could say that well Obama wasn't running for Presidency then, who knows maybe we elected him that term instead of Bush?
Shit gets somewhat stupid once you starting thinking about alt universes where ANYTHING is possible.
So fringe is on the same timeline with star trek? That's awesome
Remember the line that Walter drew on the chalkboard? Remember all of the branches? He said that there was a reality (alternate universe) for each branch of what we perceive as reality. So there are an infinite amount of "altverses." That's why they've shown chaotic, dark, peaceful, and orderly so far.
That William Bell has more than likely assumed the position of ALL of the William Bells, and travels between the worlds freely.
+ Holy shit, Nimoy's old as fuck.
wooooooooosh, i am making fun of the rampant use of alternate timelines and time travels in JJ's work.
While I agree that Walter's explanation (and to a lesser degree the presence of the Observer) suggests there are many realities I hope that, at least for the time being, we stick with two. Two is already plenty interesting and opens up lots of possibilities, while I feel more at this early stage is going to get confusing, and not in the fun "I wonder what this means" kind of way.
I agree completely. I hope they don't mess this alternate universe idea (same with time traveling) up. Other shows like Heroes have dabbled in it only to find themselves royally fucked due to plot holes. Hopefully they can keep it under control and keep it awesome (ie Futurama movie that did it).
I think they may flash on the extra ones occasionally. I think last week's episode with the fires was an example of this. Nina's comments about tracking down Bell made it sound like he was hopping around a few of them as well.
For the most part though I think they'll just focus on the 2 specific realities for now.
