ok so, regarding the Alternate fringe division:

If their job is to investigate tears in the fabric of reality (unaware that they've been caused by our Walter and that our universe even exists), then how is it Walternate (and the shapeshifters, for that matter) is able to cross back and forth without alerting the alternate Fringe division's sensors? I assume Walternate and Peter returning to the alternate universe would have prompted an alert/investigation, just like the Brooklyn Theater when Olivia's group crossed over.

Also, I thought it was established that it's impossible for humans to cross over (excluding Olivia and those kids), and that's why we get the Shapeshifters instead... how was Walternate able to cross into our world? Was that really Walternate, or a shapeshifter body imprinted with Walternate's consciousness? Maybe that's all shapeshifters are, android bodies that people from the alternate universe "download" into, while their bodies remain safely on the other side.

Also what the fuck are Olivias powers?

Ive always been under the impression that DoD gave fringe the gear to track these cracks in the fabric, thus not having much of a problem to circumvene these "alerts".

I dont think its been established impossible, just not safe, that regular humans cant cross, unless you count walter and peter as "special". The shapeshifters are merely soldiers created for the purpose of merging with otherside-hosts not to stand out and accidently bump into their double. I doubt walternate is a shapeshifter (they would have been forced to take walter)

Yes our Walter and the Massive Dynamic guys thought it was only possible to cross safely with the help of these special kids, but they're not working with all the information.

adding onto this; The reason they were able to bring walternate over was from the bridge episode. They thought they stopped it from happening, but he was somehow able to make it through still. It was somewhat explained that the process of moving things in that method from their world to ours, leaves people relatively unharmed. They used shapeshifters up until the point that they could setup the 3 beacons to create this method of travel.

Their detection system seems to find "holes" or weak points created when crossing over using a specific method. Walternate was able to cross over using a system where they wait for the two universes to overlap and then, using devices on both sides, match the 'frequencies' of both universes allowing him to cross over without creating any kind hole.

Obviously since this requires having people in both universes they had to send Shapeshifters over using a different method.

As far as Olivia's powers go they should be unlimited(in theory). From what I understand as long as she's able to alter her perception of something she can make it happen. Iirc it works that way on everyone they gave the drug to but others had to focus their perception to one area to make it work. I'm assuming that when they say Olivia is the strongest they meant she was able to alter more things and to a stronger degree than the others.

Its not so much them overlapping as them being in synch.

The guy at Massive Dynamics explained this in an earlier episode, so I'm not sure why he'd say he "don't know". The overlapping part was with their current knowledge of crossing over that causes the destabilized molecules.

tbh, as soon as that grenade went off and Olivia woke up Bell and crossed over, I knew it was the other Olivia almost immediately. It makes the most sense as far as an ending goes for a finale. Doesn't take anything away from it. Just thought it was a little predictable. Now... how are they gonna get the real Olivia back??
